Abstract An incubator is described in which an infant can be kept at the proper temperature and humidity, with proper ventilation and, to facilitate respiration, in an atmosphere containing a known and controlled mixture of oxygen and helium. A densimometer serves to determine the composition of the gaseous mixture within the chamber and to make ...

Preterm Infant Incubator Humidity Levels
Advances in Neonatal Care, 2020Background: Numerous scholars have reported that inconsistent levels of incubator humidity in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) require attention. Evidence synthesis was needed to identify optimal incubator humidity levels and duration to decrease transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and the potential for infection.

Active noise control for infant incubators
2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009This paper presents an active noise control system for infant incubators. Experimental results show that global noise reduction can be achieved for infant incubator ANC systems. An audio-integration algorithm is presented to introduce a healthy audio (intrauterine) sound with the ANC system to mask the residual noise and soothe the infant.

Infant incubators and radiant warmers
Early Human Development, 1983Incubators and radiant warmers are used to maintain the body temperature of newborn infants. This is best done so that the energy expended for metabolic heat production is minimized. The heat output of these devices is usually regulated by servocontrol to keep the skin temperature constant at a site on the abdomen where a thermistor probe is attached ...

Electromagnetic Fields and Infant Incubators
Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1994Two models of infant incubators were studied to determine the strength of the magnetic field generated by the heater and fan motors. Measurements were taken at intervals along the center line of the incubator. The results show that fields greater than 100 milligauss and 25 milligauss were measured in the C-86 and C-100 model Isolettes, respectively.

Low Cost Transportable Infant Incubator
2013 39th Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference, 2013Infants born prior to thirty seven weeks of gestation are referred to as premature. Prematurity is a significant problem in developing countries, where preterm infants make up approximately 25% of all live births. The World Health Organization (WHO) and Engineering World Health (EWH) have both expressed the necessity for a low cost, transportable ...

THE NOISE EXPOSURE OF INFANTS IN INCUBATORS.
Autumn Conference 1980, 1979The noise exposure of infants in incubators due to both services noise and self-generated noise has been measured in an investigation involving 45 incubators and 69 infants. Incubator services noise levels were consistent with those reported in previous surveys but the noise produced by the infants has been found to increase levels by approximately 8 ...

NOISE LEVELS IN INFANT INCUBATORS (ADVERSE EFFECTS?)
Pediatrics, 1974Certain environmental factors in neonatal intensive care have attracted large interest and have been studied thoroughly. However, less attention has been paid to the noise level inside infant incubators. The present study of four different types of incubators revealed high sound levels of 70 to 80 dB sound pressure level (SPL) at 125 Hz.

Abstract 1. Infection was reduced in premature bables although the incubator was run under most adverse surrounding conditions. 2. Cyanotic attacks were stopped and did not recur when the oxygen content and the humidity of the incubator were kept at a high level. 3.
