y‐shaped side overlap esophagogastrostomy in proximal gastrectomy
We developed a y‐shaped modified SOFY method that is simpler and has potential for a greater anti‐reflux effect. Unlike the original method, the pseudo‐fornix does not go behind the esophagus and the axes of the esophagus and residual stomach are shifted by approximately 60° to form a “y” shape.

Introduction. In order to reduce the large variations in clinical outcomes of patients with implanted MED‐EL Floating Mass Transducer (FMT) at the round window (RW), several approaches were proposed to optimize FMT‐RW coupling. Our previous study showed improved FMT‐RW coupling by applying static RW loads utilizing the “Hannover Coupler” (HC) FMT ...

Flexibility within the middle ears of vertebrates [PDF]
Introduction and aims: Tympanic middle ears have evolved multiple times independently among vertebrates, and share common features. We review flexibility within tympanic middle ears and consider its physiological and clinical implications.

Feasibility of ossicular chain reconstruction with resin cement
Introduction: Disjunction of ossicular chain is a common finding in middle ear chronic disease. In addition to ossicular interposition, various materials have been used for reconstruction, such as ceramic prostheses, polyethylene, and titanium ...

Management of Incus Dislocation From Attempted Foreign Body Removal With Alligator Forceps
Middle ear trauma from foreign body (FB) impaction or its removal can lead to tympanic membrane (TM) perforations and ossicular chain disruption. We present a case of a 29 year-old male who developed acute right-sided hearing loss, aural fullness, and ...

Preoperative semi-automatic segmentation in incus defects
Objectives: Long-term success rate of partial ossicular replacement prosthesis (PORP) is low. Three-dimensional (3D) imaging technology to identify and model ossicular chain defects may improve this rate.

Comparison of Outcomes of Hearing Reconstruction Techniques for Isolated Incus Long Process Defects
Background: Different techniques are available for ossicular reconstruction in isolated incus defects. Our objective was to compare hearing reconstruction techniques in Austin-Kartush Group A (incus defect, intact manubrium mallei and mobile stapes are ...
