Experimental and Analytical Tools for the Chemical Recycling of Engineering Plastics – A Multi‐Scale Pyrolysis Study on Polydicyclopentadiene

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 46, Issue 23, December 5, 2025.
The presented work demonstrates the importance of a comprehensive assessment of engineering plastics pyrolysis on the example of Polydicyclopentadiene. Analyses in µg‐, mg‐, and lab‐scale provide insight into mechanisms, yields, and products. An analytical and experimental toolset is showcased, by which the foundation for the assessment of pyrolysis as

Religiosity and family resilience who perform Rambu Solo’ Ritual in Toraja

open access: yesSosiohumaniora: Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu Sosial dan Humaniora
Rambu Solo’ is one of the customs that the Toraja people still preserve. The implementation of Rambu Solo’ becomes a challenge for some families because this ritual becomes an obligation done as a form of gratitude to people who have died. Besides that,

LRRC8A Regulates Outer Hair Cell Volume and Electromotility and is Required for Hearing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 41, November 6, 2025.
This study identifies LRRC8A‐dependent volume‐regulated anion channels (VRACs) as essential for cochlear outer hair cells' electromotility and auditory signal amplification. LRRC8A deficiency disrupts cell volume control, impairs auditory sensitivity, and causes deafness, while targeted LRRC8A re‐expression restores auditory function.

Bioactive Indanes: Design, synthesis and bioactivity investigation of 2,2-substituted Indane derivatives, a new bioactive Indane scaffold

open access: yesBioorganic Chemistry
The indane scaffold, prevalent in bioactive natural products, underpins numerous therapeutics. Our group developed a series of 1,2-indane dimers, including PH46A (9), for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. This study details the design, synthesis and characterisation of 21 compounds, including 2,2-disubstituted indanones (16a-16h), indanols (17a-17h)

3‐Dicyanomethylene‐Substituted Thienothiophenes as the Terminal Units in Non‐Fullerene Electron Acceptor Molecules for Organic Photovoltaics

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, Volume 20, Issue 16, August 14, 2025.
3‐Dicyanomethylene thienothiophenes (CNTTs), a new series of electron acceptor units, were developed and incorporated into non‐fullerene acceptors (NFAs). The CNTT‐based NFAs exhibited favorable electronic structures and packing structures and thus enabled organic photovoltaic devices to achieve a power conversion efficiency of 10% when blended with ...

Kinetic Resolutions of Indan Derivatives Using Bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2002
Racemic indan derivatives have been resolved by the hydrolysis of amide bonds using Corynebacterium ammoniagenes IFO12612 to produce (S)-amine and (R)-amides. In the kinetic resolution of 1 (N-12-(6-methoxy-indan-1-yl)ethyl]acetamide), it was possible to run the reaction to 44% conversion on a 10-g scale, obtaining (S)-amine 4 ((S)-2-(6-methoxy-indan-1-

Analysis of Benzoate 1,2‐Dioxygenase Identifies Shared Electron Transfer Components With DxnA1A2 in Rhizorhabdus wittichii RW1

open access: yesJournal of Basic Microbiology, Volume 65, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Rhizorhabdus wittichii RW1 is known for its ability to degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, such as dibenzo‐p‐dioxin (DD) and dibenzofuran (DF). We hypothesized that the R. wittichii RW1 benzoate 1,2‐dioxygenase shares electron transfer components with the DD/DF angular dioxygenase (DxnA1A2), similar to many aromatic hydrocarbon degrading

Recent advances in the structure, function and regulation of the volume‐regulated anion channels and their role in immunity

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 603, Issue 15, Page 4255-4291, 1 August 2025.
Abstract figure legend The volume‐regulated anion channel (VRAC), composed of leucine‐rich repeat‐containing 8 (LRRC8) proteins, serves both canonical and non‐canonical functions in vertebrate cells. The canonical function of this channel relates to its original description, which is homeostatic regulation of cell volume in response to hypotonic ...
