Infinite semipositone problems with indefinite weight and asymptotically linear growth forcing-terms

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
In this work, we study the existence of positive solutions to the singular problem $$displaylines{ -Delta_{p}u = lambda m(x)f(u)-u^{-alpha} quad hbox{in }Omega,cr u = 0 quad hbox{on }partial Omega, }$$ where $lambda$ is positive parameter, $Omega $

Targeting protein–protein interactions with reversible covalent modalities: Non‐cysteine chemistries

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Protein–protein interactions (PPIs) are central to diverse cellular functions, and represent a rapidly expanding class of therapeutic targets. Advancements in covalent drug design have enabled small‐molecule drugs to overcome challenges associated with engaging these targets, such as limited durations of action and difficult‐to‐drug (expansive,

Asymmetric elliptic problems in $R^N$

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2006
We work on the whole $R^N$ and prove the existence of a first nonprincipal eigenvalue for an asymmetric problem with weights involving the p-Laplacian. As an application we obtain a first nontrivial curve in the corresponding Fucik spectrum.

Existence of solutions for a nonhomogeneous Dirichlet problem involving p(x) $p(x)$-Laplacian operator and indefinite weight

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2019
We obtain multiplicity and uniqueness results in the weak sense for the following nonhomogeneous quasilinear equation involving the p(x) $p(x)$-Laplacian operator with Dirichlet boundary condition: −Δp(x)u+V(x)|u|q(x)−2u=f(x,u)in Ω,u=0 on ∂Ω, $$ -\Delta ...

Progressively Projected Newton's Method

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Newton's Method is widely used to find the solution of complex non‐linear simulation problems. To guarantee a descent direction, it is common practice to clamp the negative eigenvalues of each element Hessian prior to assembly—a strategy known as Projected Newton (PN)—but this perturbation often hinders convergence.

Asymptotic behaviour of positive large solutions of quasilinear logistic problems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2015
We are interested in the asymptotic analysis of singular solutions with blow-up boundary for a class of quasilinear logistic equations with indefinite potential.

Register‐Efficient Linear‐Time Evaluation in the Bernstein Basis

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We investigate the evaluation of points and derivatives of Bézier curves and surfaces on modern architectures, focusing on performance and guided by numerical error bounds. While the de Casteljau algorithm remains the reference for numerical robustness, its linear working‐set size imposes substantial register pressure on GPUs.

Existence of solutions for quasilinear elliptic equations with nonlinear boundary conditions and indefinite weight

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
In this article, we establish the existence and non-existence of solutions for quasilinear equations with nonlinear boundary conditions and indefinite weight. Our proofs are based on variational methods and their geometrical features.

Existence of positive solutions for semilinear elliptic systems with indefinite weight

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2011
This article concerns the existence of positive solutions of semilinear elliptic system $$displaylines{ -Delta u=lambda a(x)f(v),quadhbox{in }Omega,cr -Delta v=lambda b(x)g(u),quadhbox{in }Omega,cr u=0=v,quad hbox{on } partialOmega, }$$ where ...

Spanish stock returns, growth, and inflation, 1900–2020

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper studies equity returns in the Madrid Stock Exchange and their connections with the macroeconomy from the emergence of a stock market around 1900 to its ‘big bang’ at the turn of the twenty‐first century. Using high‐quality data from primary sources and the methodology of the modern IBEX35 (published since 1987), we constructed an ...
