Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Load-depth sensing of isotropic, linear viscoelastic materials using rigid axisymmetric indenters [PDF]
An indentation experiment involves five variables: indenter shape, material behavior of the substrate, contact size, applied load and indentation depth. Only three variable are known afterwards, namely, indenter shape, plus load and depth as function of ...

Indentation load-depth relation for an elastic layer with surface tension
Load-depth relation is the fundamental requisite in nanoindentation tests for thin layers, however, the effects of surface tension are seldom included. This paper concerns micro-/nano-sized indentation of a bonded elastic layer by a rigid sphere.

The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Modeling of the Combined Effect of the Surface Roughness and Coatings in Contact Interaction
The model of indentation of a spherical punch with a rough surface into a thin elastic layer lying on an elastic half-space has been developed. A numerical-analytical solution is suggested based on the two-scales approach.

Indentation effect on the fatigue limit of axle steel
A hardness tester was used to make indentations on the hourglass fatigue specimens of axle steel, and notches were machined by electronic discharge machining(EDM).The fatigue limits of both indentation specimens and notched ones were examined and compared
