In Situ X‐Ray Tomography and Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Damage Evolution in C/C‐SiC Composites Fabricated by Liquid Silicon Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the internal structure of fiber‐reinforced ceramic composites affects their resistance to damage. By combining 3D X‐ray imaging with acoustic emission monitoring during mechanical testing, it reveals how silicon distribution influences crack formation.

Oral Motion‐Powered Smart Dental Implant Abutment for In Situ Antibacterial and Cell Adhesion Through Piezoelectric Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We proposed a method based on the piezoelectric effect and fabricated an implant abutment on the basis of piezoelectric ceramic. Under physiological occlusal pressure, the oral motion‐powered smart dental implant abutments interacted with water and oxygen, promoting the formation of reactive oxygen species and achieving a synergistic and highly ...

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.

Synergistic Organic–Inorganic Interface Engineering for Stable Zinc Metal Anodes in Aqueous Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional mercaptosuccinic acid enables an ultrathin organic–inorganic SEI (Zn‐S‐RCOOH) that synergistically regulates interfacial water and accelerates Zn2+ transport. The optimized hydrogen‐bond environment and ZnS‐guided deposition suppress dendrites, corrosion, and by‐product formation, delivering ultrastable Zn cycling and high‐performance

Determination of Young's modulus from depth sensing Vickers Indentation tests

open access: yes, 1997
A new semiempirical formula is proposed for the determination of Young's modulus of material from Depth Sensing Vickers Indentation tests. The parameters used in this equation can be determined from the indentation curves with high accuracy. This formula

Advanced Dental Composite Technology via Bisilanized Dual‐Action Nanofillers for Biofilm Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multimodal research strategy has led to the development of an innovative resin‐based composite (RBC) with dual antibacterial action. The S_CM‐RBC formula showed strong antibiofilm activity, excellent mechanical strength, and biosafety. It effectively controlled oral bacteria in prevention of caries recurrence, and maintained pulp health in a rat ...

Inducing phase transformations using depth-sensing indentation

open access: yes, 2004
Phase transformations in solids occur during a number of common contact loading situations including polishing, cutting, and grinding. To understand and optimize material response to such processes or to engineer a surface with specific properties (i.e ...
