Near field and far field scattering of surface plasmon polaritons by one-dimensional surface defects

open access: yes, 1999
A rigorous formulation for the scattering of surface plasmon polaritons (SPP) from a one-dimensional surface defect of any shape that yields the electromagnetic field in the vacuum half-space above the vacuum-metal interface is developed by the use of an

Reverse indentation size effect of a duplex steel

open access: yesMetallic Materials, 2016
In this investigation, duplex steel 1.4462 was subjected to the microstructural analysis and Vickers hardness measurements. The tests were performed on three characteristic surfaces, considering the rolling direction. Obtained results showed that this duplex steel exhibits an increase in measured hardness with the increase of the applied load, known as

Atomically Revealing Bulk Point Defect Dynamics in Hydrogen‐Driven γ‐Fe2O3 → Fe3O4 → FeO Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM uncovers the atomic‐scale mechanisms underlying hydrogen‐driven γ‐Fe2O3→Fe3O4→FeO reduction. In γ‐Fe2O3, oxygen vacancies cluster around intrinsic Fe vacancies, leading to nanopore formation, whereas in Fe3O4, vacancy aggregation is suppressed, preserving a dense structure.

On Extracting Mechanical Properties from Nanoindentation at Temperatures up to 1000$^{\circ}$C

open access: yes, 2017
Alloyed MCrAlY bond coats, where M is usually cobalt and/or nickel, are essential parts of modern turbine blades, imparting environmental resistance while mediating thermal expansivity differences.

Mechanotransducing Organic Electrochemical Diode for Crosstalk‐Inhibited Artificial Skin

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach is presented to a stretchable mechanotransducing diode that unifies rectification and tactile‐sensing functionality. This approach enables to fabricate the diode that maintains a large rectification ratio (5 × 102) at a high operational frequency (100 Hz).

Slip system level strengthening in nano-indentation of single crystalline copper: Numerical study via a non-local CPFEM model [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
A three-dimensional non-local crystal plasticity finite element model (CPFEM) integrating the evolution of geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs) and statistically stored dislocations (SSDs) was developed to simulate the nano-indentation of single ...
