Indentation of Commercial Pure Titanium Processed by Cold Rolling

open access: yesMetals
In this work, the effects of plastic deformation on the indentation behaviors of commercial pure titanium alloy were investigated. Titanium experienced various kinds of deformation by cold rolling processes, and the indentation behaviors were measured ...

INDENTATION SIZE EFFECT IN HIGH PRESSURE TORSION PROCESSED HIGH ENTROPY ALLOY

open access: yesActa Polytechnica CTU Proceedings, 2020
High entropy alloy HfNbTaTiZr in as cast conditions and after high pressure torsion straining was characterized by nanoindentation. The length-scale dependent material response (indentation size effect) was characterized by indentation at various ...

Temperature dependence of the indentation size effect [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research, 2010
The influence of temperature on the indentation size effect is explored experimentally. Copper is indented on a custom-built high-temperature nanoindenter at temperatures between ambient and 200 °C, in an inert atmosphere that precludes oxidation.

Review of Nanoindentation Size Effect: Experiments and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
Nanoindentation is a well-stablished experiment to study the mechanical properties of materials at the small length scales of micro and nano. Unlike the conventional indentation experiments, the nanoindentation response of the material depends on the ...

Rate-dependent indentation size effect on hardness and creep behavior of a titanium metallization film on alumina substrate

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2021
Nanoindentation tests were performed at room temperature to investigate the indentation size effect (ISE) and creep behavior of a titanium metallization film on alumina substrate.

MYCOPHENOLATE MOFETIL TREATMENT REDUCES THE RISK OF TREATMENT ESCALATION DUE TO VASCULAR COMPLICATIONS IN LIMITED CUTANEOUS SYSTEMIC SCLEROSIS: EMULATION OF A TARGET TRIAL FROM ITALIAN RHEUMATOLOGY SOCIETY SPRING REGISTRY

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon due to the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of the vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Effect of Indenter-Radius Size on Au(001) Nanoindentation [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2003
We address the question of whether results obtained for small indenters scale to indenter sizes in the experimental range. The quasicontinuum method is used in order to extend the computational cell size to 2x2x1 micro m(3), nominally containing of order 2.5x10(11) atoms, and in order to permit consideration of indenter radii in the range 70-700 A. The

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

The Ni3Al/Ni Interfacial Contribution to the Indentation Size Effect of Ni-Based Single-Crystal Superalloys

open access: yesSolids
Hardness decreases as indentation depth increases at both the nano- and micro-meter scales. By incorporating interfacial contributions, the indentation size effect can provide valuable information on the deformation behaviors of Ni-based single-crystal ...
