A new hardness formula incorporating the effect of source density on indentation response: a discrete dislocation plasticity analysis [PDF]
Planar discrete dislocation plasticity (DDP) calculations that simulate thin single crystal films bonded to a rigid substrate indented by a rigid wedge are performed for different values of film thickness and dislocation source density.

Thermal and mechanical properties of Mg–Al–Si–O–N glasses with up to 6.2 at.% nitrogen
Abstract This study investigates the structural, thermal, and mechanical properties of Mg–Al–Si–O–N glasses. Six compositions with increasing nitrogen content from 1.7 to 6.2 at.% were synthesized by melting mixtures of high‐purity oxide and nitride precursors, followed by quenching and annealing.

Review of indentation size effect in crystalline materials: Progress, challenges and opportunities
Nanoindentation has been widely utilized for measuring mechanical properties at small scales over the past three decades. Indentation size effect (ISE) is a crucial phenomenon in nanoindentation testing of crystalline materials, which is usually ...

Abstract This updated risk assessment evaluated evidence on potential adverse health effects of fluoride related to all sources of oral exposure as mandated by the European Commission. Fluoride benefit assessment was not included. Effects on the central nervous system, thyroid and bone were prioritised.

We demonstrate that epitaxially grown silicon EpiWafers with a low carbon footprint are well suited for bottom solar cells in perovskite‐silicon tandem devices. Fabricating bottom solar cells with TOPCon layers incorporates an in situ gettering step from which the EpiWafers benefit in the same way as from a commercially used phosphorus pre‐gettering ...

Bipolar HiPIMS kick‐pulse for high hardness in high‐entropy boride thin films
Abstract We report a microhardness indentation study for multicomponent refractory metal boride thin films that belong to the family of high‐entropy ceramics exhibiting superior hardness and high temperature properties. We focus on the nominally equimolar composition (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)B2, which we refer to as HEB3, on c‐plane sapphire ...

Indentation Size Effect on the Hardness of Silicon Carbide Ceramics [PDF]
The Vickers hardness of CVD SiC ceramics is determined as a function of the indentation load. Vickers hardness pyramid-shaped sharp diamond indenter with angle between opposite faces at an angle of 136° was used to apply five indentation loads of 4.91; 9.

Growth, Structural and Micro hardness studies of KSbF4 and K2SbF5 crystals [PDF]
Interest in Potassium Fluoro Antimonate crystals has been increased for the last four decades due its superionic conduction and its unusual electro-optic properties. Potassium tetra fluoro antimonate (KSbF4) and Potassium penta fluoro antimonite (K2SbF5)

Coastal fisheries adaptations to increasing climate change exposure in Japan
Abstract Climate change‐driven ocean warming is altering the geographic ranges of species, leading to a poleward shift of tropical species into temperate regions (tropicalisation). This threatens the native marine community assemblages by changing the availability of traditional marine resources, thus impacting the livelihood and well‐being of coastal ...
