Universal cosmological solutions in Lovelock gravity

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
This paper explores the Friedmann field equations within the framework of Lovelock gravity, a natural extension of Einstein’s gravity, focusing on both flat and open universes.

Socio-economic factors affecting agro-forestry technology adoption in Nyando, Kenya

open access: yesJournal of Water and Land Development, 2018
Agro-forestry (AFR) technologies are perceived to improve livelihoods and natural resource sustainability of the rural households. Despite their aggressive promotion by multiple national and international agencies, the adoption of AFR technologies has ...

TeV Scale Lee-Wick Fields out of Large Extra Dimensional Gravity

open access: yes, 2008
We study the gravitational corrections to the Maxwell, Dirac and Klein-Gorden theories in the large extra dimension model in which the gravitons propagate in the (4+n)-dimensional bulk, while the gauge and matter fields are confined to the four ...

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Thermodynamic Entropy And The Accessible States of Some Simple Systems

open access: yes, 2007
Comparison of the thermodynamic entropy with Boltzmann's principle shows that under conditions of constant volume the total number of arrangements in simple thermodynamic systems with temperature-independent heat capacities is TC/k.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Better Autologistic Regression

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, 2017
Autologistic regression is an important probability model for dichotomous random variables observed along with covariate information. It has been used in various fields for analyzing binary data possessing spatial or network structure.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Second gradient thermoelasticity with microtemperatures

open access: yesElectronic Research Archive
This research was concerned with a linear theory of thermoelasticity with microtemperatures where the second thermal displacement gradient and the second gradient of microtemperatures are included in the classical set of independent constitutive ...
