Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Minimal Distortion Principle versus Back Projection for Independent Vector Analysis
This short communication deals with the scaling ambiguity issue in blind convolutive source separation when performed in the frequency domain. It discusses the relationship between two major techniques, mainly the Minimal Distortion Principle and the ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Auxiliary function-based algorithm for blind extraction of a moving speaker
In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for blind source extraction (BSE) of a moving acoustic source recorded by multiple microphones. The algorithm is based on independent vector extraction (IVE) where the contrast function is optimized using the ...

Results on lattice vector quantization with dithering [PDF]
The statistical properties of the error in uniform scalar quantization have been analyzed by a number of authors in the past, and is a well-understood topic today. The analysis has also been extended to the case of dithered quantizers, and the advantages

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

From Informed Independent Vector Extraction to Hybrid Architectures for Target Source Extraction
This article revises informed independent vector extraction (iIVE) as a framework for connecting model-based blind source extraction (BSE) with deep learning. We introduce the contrast function for iIVE, which is derived by extending IVE with beamforming-

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
