A Fiber-Optic Gas Sensor and Method for the Measurement of Refractive Index Dispersion in NIR

open access: yesSensors, 2020
This paper presents a method for gas concentration determination based on the measurement of the refractive index dispersion of a gas near the gas resonance in the near-infrared region (NIR).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Coal and gas outburst risk evaluation based on cloud model and D -S theory

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2020
In view of problems of existing coal and gas outburst risk evaluation models or methods that it is difficult to take into account the uncertainty and ambiguity of evaluation indicators, and the index weights are unreasonable, coal and gas outburst risk ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Optimizing Iran's natural gas export portfolio by presenting a conceptual framework for non-systematic risk based on portfolio theory

open access: yesEnergy Strategy Reviews, 2019
Remarkable proven reserves of approximately 1200 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, with an unprecedented growth in global demand, have led Iranian policymakers to look for optimal natural gas export programs.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Lifted flame property and interchangeability of natural gas on partially premixed gas burners

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2018
The relationship between lifted flames and burner head temperature of partially premixed gas burners supplied by various natural gas sources was investigated, and the application of AGA(American Gas Association) lifting limit for Chinese domestic gas ...

Thermodynamic effects of gas adiabatic index on cavitation bubble collapse

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
In this paper, an improved multicomponent lattice Boltzmann model is employed to investigate the impact of the gas properties, specifically the gas adiabatic index, on the thermodynamic effects of cavitation bubble collapse. The study focuses on analyzing the temperature evolution in the flow field and the resulting thermal effects on the surrounding ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Study of the multi-index coupling forecasting model of coal and gas outburst and its application

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2018
Coal and gas outburst seriously threatens the safety of underground coal mining. With the increase in coal mining depth, the geological conditions of coal mines become complicated, which adversely affects the safety of coal mining production.
