This work reports a direct, biocompatible method to synthesize UiO‐66, enabling one‐step encapsulation of proteins without compromising crystallinity or activity. Using advanced in situ and ex situ techniques, the study reveals that proteins integrate concurrently with MOF growth, forming crystalline protein@UiO‐66 nanoparticles, and provide insight ...

A hierarchically structured metal–organic framework (eMIL) is shown to host the complete six‐enzyme biosynthesis pathway for the anti‐cancer pigment violacein, reshaping reaction dynamics and multiplying in vitro yields. eMIL nanoreactors deliver this reconstituted bacterial multi‐protein system into mammalian cells, where cell‐derived substrates and ...

Distribution of indicator bacteria in Canyon Lake, California
Water Research, 2005The spatial and temporal distributions of indicator bacteria in a small, multiple-use source drinking water reservoir in Southern California, USA were quantified over the period August 2001-July 2002. High levels of total and fecal coliform bacteria were present in Canyon Lake (annual geometric mean concentrations+/-SEM of 3.93+/-0.02 and 3.02+/-0.03 ...

Water Research, 2009
The South Nation River basin in eastern Ontario, Canada is characterized by mixed agriculture. Over 1600 water samples were collected on a bi-weekly basis from up to 24 discrete sampling sites on river tributaries of varying stream order within the river basin between 2004 and 2006.

Water quality indicators: bacteria, coliphages, enteric viruses
International Journal of Environmental Health Research, 2013Water quality through the presence of pathogenic enteric microorganisms may affect human health. Coliform bacteria, Escherichia coli and coliphages are normally used as indicators of water quality. However, the presence of above-mentioned indicators do not always suggest the presence of human enteric viruses.

Health-indicator bacteria in water-surface microlayers
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1978The distribution patterns of a variety of bacteria in the surface microlayer, 20 cm and 100 cm below the surface of rivers, open lake waters, and off docks are presented. Implications of this three-season study are that conventional sampling techniques underestimate the true microbiol densities.

Faecal indicator bacteria at fish farms
Hydrobiologia, 1982The observed concentrations of bacteria at two large fish farms were not high, but due to the great volume of the discharge the total amount of bacteria was large. Total coliform (TC) bacteria identified belonged mainly to the genera Enterobacter, Citrobacter and Aeromonas. The majority of faecal coliform (FC) strains were Escherichia coli. E. coli was
