Further developments in indirect mortality estimation
Population Studies, 1977Summary A variety of indirect estimators of mortality; survival of children by marriage duration of mother, survival of first spouse by marriage duration and by age, maternal orphanhood, and survival of siblings, are investigated by the use of a wide range of model fertility and mortality situations.

Indirect Estimation of α-Stable Distributions and Processes [PDF]
Summary: The \(\alpha \)-stable family of distributions constitutes a generalization of the Gaussian distribution, allowing for asymmetry and thicker tails. Its practical usefulness is coupled with a marked theoretical appeal, as it stems from a generalized version of the central limit theorem in which the assumption of the finiteness of the variance ...

An indirect method for urinary oxalate estimation
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1998Oxalate was first coprecipitated at pH 5 as calcium oxalate precipitate (COP) with excess calcium ions and ethanol. Interference in the COP, mainly calcium phosphate, was successfully removed by washing with 0.1 M acetic acid equilibrated with calcium oxalate monohydrate crystal.

Fast Estimation and Rendering of Indirect Highlights
Computer Graphics Forum, 2010AbstractThis paper proposes a method for efficiently rendering indirect highlights. Indirect highlights are caused by the primary light source reflecting off two or more glossy surfaces. Accurately simulating such highlights is important to convey the realistic appearance of materials such as chrome and shiny metal. Our method models the glossy BRDF at

Indirect Methods for Estimating the Normal Range
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1969Normal ranges for laboratory tests are customarily determined by results of test values from healthy persons. Patients’ laboratory test results recently have been analyzed by statistical and computer technics in an effort to obtain indirect estimates of the normal ranges. The present study was designed to examine the accuracy of normal ranges estimated

Constrained Indirect Least Squares Estimators
Econometrica, 1978An over-identified model could be defined as an exactly identified model that is subject to over-identifying restrictions. One could therefore define a constrained indirect least squares estimator for systems of equations similar to generalized least squares estimators under constraints for single equations. The estimator differs from three stage least

Design-Based Indirect Estimation
2020This chapter presents some design-based indirect small area estimators using different types of auxiliary information. It describes the basic synthetic, the post-stratified, the sample size dependent, and the GREG estimators of domain totals and means. Further, the chapter presents an application to a labor force survey where the different steps in the

The Indirect Estimation of Migration: A Critical Review
International Migration Review, 1987indirect methods. Indirect estimation techniques for measuring emigration were first proposed by members of the IUSSP Working Group for the Study of International Migration, as a complement to methods based on more traditional types of data such as place of birth, place and duration of residence, date of arrival, etc. Two approaches were suggested: one,
