Sparse indirect inference

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we propose a sparse indirect inference estimator. In order to achieve sparse estimation of the parameters, the Smoothly Clipped Absolute Deviation (SCAD) L1–penalty of Fan and Li (2001) is added into the indirect inference objectivefunctionintroducedbyGouri ́erouxetal.(1993).Wederivetheasymptotic theory and we show that the sparse ...

Inferences and Indirectness in Interaction

open access: yesOpen Linguistics, 2018
Abstract I explore some of the interconnections between inferences that participants make about one another’s (verbal) conduct, the implications they attribute to prior turns at talk, and the indirectness with which recipients may respond to enquiries - in short, the interconnections between inference, implication and indirectness.

Intrinsic Nanopore‐Assisted SnP2S6 Memristors With Ti Ion Dynamics for Compact Logic‐In‐Memory Hardware

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tin hexathiophosphate memristors leverage intrinsic nanopores together with a guided filament formation strategy to regulate titanium ion motion and switching behavior. The devices support reliable nonvolatile memory and reconfigurable logic‐in‐memory, demonstrating 14 Boolean logic functions in a single cell.

A Data mining approach to indirect inference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Consider a model with parameter phi, and an auxiliary model with parameter theta. Let phi be a randomly sampled from a given density over the known parameter space.

Testing a DSGE model of the EU using indirect inference [PDF]

open access: yes
We use the method of indirect inference, using the bootstrap, to test the Smets and Wouters model of the EU against a VAR auxiliary equation describing their data; the test is based on the Wald statistic.

Atomic‐Level Ionic Displacement Polarization Enhanced Piezocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two isomorphic COFs were synthesized and compared, including an amphoteric COF (SQ‐TAPT) and a neutral COF (PDA‐TAPT). The ionic bonds in SQ‐TAPT introduce more Born effective charges, thereby enhancing its ionic displacement polarization. Experimental and theoretical calculations demonstrated that SQ‐TAPT exhibited higher polarity and stronger ...

Maximum Likelihood and Gaussian Estimation of Continuous Time Models in Finance [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper overviews maximum likelihood and Gaussian methods of estimating continuous time models used in finance. Since the exact likelihood can be constructed only in special cases, much attention has been devoted to the development of methods designed

Spin Defects in Hexagonal Boron Nitride as 2D Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that boron‐vacancy (VB${\rm V}_{\rm B}$) centers in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) enable quantitative strain sensing with sub‐micrometer resolution. Using this approach under continuously tunable in‐plane stress, we precisely quantify strain‐induced shifts of the E2g${\rm E}_{2{\rm g}}$ Raman mode in multilayer hBN, establishing VB${\rm ...

Modular Platform for Rapidly Investigating Long‐Distance Propagation of Human Neural Network Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the first human neural organoid culture model capable of rapidly exhibiting long‐distance neural network propagation, thus delivering a system to experimentally investigate large‐scale communication during normal and diseased states.

Indirect estimation of Markov switching models with endogenous switching [PDF]

open access: yes
Markov Switching models have been successfully applied to many economic problems. The most popular version of these models implies that the change in the state is driven by a Markov Chain and that the state is an exogenous discrete unobserved variable ...
