Predictive Control of an Indirect Matrix Converter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2009
This paper presents the implementation of a predictive control scheme for an indirect matrix converter. The control scheme selects the switching state that minimizes the reactive power and the error in the output currents according to their reference values.

Pulsewidth Modulation of Neutral-Point-Clamped Indirect Matrix Converter

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2008
An indirect matrix converter is an alternative "all-semiconductor" energy processor proposed recently for converting an ac source with fixed magnitude and frequency to a variable voltage and frequency supply that can meet the requirements of a particular industry application.

Indirect Three level Matrix Converter

7th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2014), 2014
An indirect capacitor clamped multi-level matrix converter has been proposed in this paper. In comparison to the conventional matrix converter the proposed converter makes available half line voltages in addition to the line voltages at the converter output.

Indirect Matrix Converters' Enhanced Commutation Method

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2015
This paper introduces an enhanced commutation method applied to the indirect matrix converter topology. It is based on the detection of the load current polarity so as to cancel the turn-on delay times of the load-side converter's switches. The proposed method allows the grid-side converter devices to commutate at zero current with larger time interval

High efficiency Indirect Matrix Converter topologies

IECON 2013 - 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2013
This paper discusses new three-phase ac-ac Indirect Matrix Converter (IMC) topologies featuring higher power efficiency than conventional IMCs. Initially, a new Inverting-link Matrix Converter (ILMC) with lower conduction power losses than a standard ILMC for voltage step-down operation is proposed.

Comprehensive analysis of Matrix Converters: Indirect topology

2014 15th International Conference on Sciences and Techniques of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering (STA), 2014
Matrix Converters (MCs) are developed to remove the use of bulky DC links in AC-DC-AC converters to achieve an adjustable AC-AC conversion system. Recently, different MC topologies have been proposed and developed which have their own advantages and disadvantages. Two main topologies of MCs are direct and indirect ones.

Simplified quasi‐Z source indirect matrix converter

International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2014
SummaryConventional matrix converters have a limited voltage gain less than 0.866 and also require many power switches and additional input filter that ensures a low input current harmonics to the grid. Quasi‐Z source (qZS) indirect matrix converter can provide high voltage gain and ensure a sinusoidal input current without additional input filter ...

Experimental comparison between direct matrix converter and indirect matrix converter based on efficiency

2015 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2015
This paper presents an experimental efficiency comparison study between two different AC-AC converter prototypes: the direct matrix converter (DMC) and indirect matrix converter (IMC). The evaluation is performed under different load conditions and using discrete IGBTs at a power level up to 9k[W].

Sawtooth switching strategy implementation for Indirect Matrix Converter

2012 3rd Power Electronics and Drive Systems Technology (PEDSTC), 2012
The Indirect Matrix Converter (IMC) concept has been gaining recognition as a promising circuit alternative in recent years. An IMC has separate line and load side converters. Each switching period of line side converter is split into two portions. In each portion, the IMC is equivalent to a conventional inverter.

Space vector modulated hybrid indirect multilevel matrix converter

IECON 2013 - 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2013
A novel hybrid indirect multi level matrix converter has been proposed in this paper. In comparison to the conventional matrix converter the proposed converter makes available the input phase voltages and half phase voltages in addition to the line voltages at the converter output.
