PWM algorithms for indirect matrix converter

This paper presents a novel PWM algorithm for indirect matrix converter (abbreviated to IMC) is proposed. Generally, PWM algorithm for the rectifier is based on two larger source line voltages without zero vectors. In this paper, when considering the PWM algorithm for the rectifier, the inverter and motor can be seen as constant current load in DC link.

Fixed Slope Carrier PWM for Indirect Matrix Converter

Indirect matrix converter (IMC) typically requires zero current commutation (ZCC) at its rectifier stage. This paper proposes a fixed slope carrier modulation for IMC. According to homothetic triangle, the modulating functions in the inverter stage are scaled by the rectifier stage to accomplish ZCC.

Z-source energy conversion is a recent concept introduced for adding voltage-boost functionality to the otherwise buck-only dc-ac inverter. In this paper, a Neutral-Point Clamped (NPC) based indirect matrix converter is proposed in order to decrease the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the input and load currents. This converter produces three-level output voltages which are suitable for high-power medium-voltage applications.
