Biotinylated Indoles as Probes for Indole-Binding Proteins
Bioconjugate Chemistry, 2001Biotinylated indoles were prepared for application as bifunctional probes for the detection of indole-binding proteins which participate in the life processes of humans, animals, plants, and bacteria. The indole nucleus was functionalized, at ring positions 3, 5, or 6, by attachment of a 2-aminoethyl group, which was then coupled to the carboxyl moiety

Substrate specificity of caeruloplasmin indoles and indole isosteres
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1973Abstract Several indoles and indole isosteres have been examined as potential substrates for the oxidative enzyme caeruloplasmin. Amongst the indoles the presence of a hydroxy group on the aromatic ring of the indole nucleus is a necessary requirement for substrate activity; this hydroxy group may be at position 4, 5 or 6 of the indole nucleus.

Synthesis of indoles via domino reaction of 2-fluorotoluenes and nitriles.
Angewandte Chemie, 2019Indoles are essential heterocycles in medicinal chemistry and, therefore, novel and efficient approaches to their synthesis are in high demand. Among indoles, 2-aryl indoles have been described as privileged scaffolds.

SUMMARYA patient presented with lethargy, nausea and diarrhoea and had a 10‐year history of neurological symptoms in his legs. He was found to have renal failure. Investigations demonstrated a longstanding plasmacytoma of the sacrum and progression to myeloma. Such an indolent course for plasmacytoma is rare.

Cyclohepta[b]indoles: A Privileged Structure Motif in Natural Products and Drug Design.
Accounts of Chemical Research, 2016Seven-membered rings fused with an indole are termed cyclohepta[b]indoles. Compounds exhibiting this structure motif display a broad spectrum of biological activities, ranging from inhibition of adipocyte fatty-acid-binding protein (A-FABP ...

Palladium-Catalyzed C-H Arylation of Indoles at the C7 Position.
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2016In the past decade, direct C-H arylation of indoles has been developed with high selectivity at the C2 and C3 positions via transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. Here we show that C-H activation can be directed to the C7 position with high

Indoles - Gut Bacteria Metabolites of Tryptophan with Pharmacotherapeutic Potential.
Current drug metabolism, 2018BACKGROUND Increasing evidence proves the pivotal role of gut microbiota in mammals' homeostasis. Gut bacterial metabolites may exert local effects on the intestines, and may enter the circulation, affecting the functions of virtually all organs.
