Seismic swarms close to volcanoes often signal the onset of unrest. Establishing whether magma is the culprit and the unrest can be flagged as magmatic may be challenging.

Thermal infrared (TIR) satellite observations enable volcanic thermal features (VTFs) to be monitored routinely and rapidly on a global scale. Routine analysis and detection of VTFs are available globally for low spatial resolution (>1km/pixel) TIR ...

The sources of volatile and fluid-mobile elements in the Sunda arc: A melt inclusion study from Kawah Ijen and Tambora volcanoes, Indonesia [PDF]
Subduction zone recycling of volatiles (H2O, Cl, S, F) is controlled by the nature of subducted materials and the temperature-pressure profile of the downgoing slab.

The composition of intrusive rocks suggests that the magma was likely generated in a subduction‐related setting. The arc crustal thickness in the Phnom Sro Ngam and Halo Prospects was probably < 40 km during emplacement. Zircon U–Pb age range indicates a correlation with Loei Fold Belt magmatic activity.

Extreme Weather Events and Agricultural Total Factor Productivity Growth
ABSTRACT The productivity of the agricultural sector is crucial for food security in a changing climate. This study estimates the impacts of extreme weather events on agricultural total factor productivity (TFP) growth, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the effects of climate change on agriculture.

REPRODUCING OPERATIONAL LANDSCAPES: The Rock Mining for Indonesia's New Capital City
Abstract Indonesia's new capital city is designed to become a green and sustainable city. In this article, we examine the (un)sustainability of the process through which the city is coming into being. Using the sociospatial theory of planetary urbanization, we trace the dialectical relationship between the new city and sites beyond it to show how ...

Geochemistry of volcanic rocks from the Sunda Arc [PDF]
Geochemical analyses of igneous rocks can provide valuable information about processes, element fluxes, and rock lithologies not evident at the surface.

ABSTRACT Lake sediments are natural archives of past environmental dynamics and how these systems have responded to past climate variability. Sediment geochemistry, governed by local geology and climate processes, is unique to each lake‐catchment and geochemical proxies must be validated for each study site.

Fault‐Controlled Permeability: A Key Parameter in Geothermal Electricity Production Assessment
ABSTRACT Geothermal energy is central to the global green energy transition, but its development has long focused on regions with positive thermal anomalies. Through a semi‐quantitative global‐scale review and spatial analysis of 361 geothermal sites, we show that 56.2% of global geothermal electricity production occurs in regions with thermal ...
