Impact of Extreme Heat on Emergency Department Admissions for Childhood and Adult Asthma: An Evaluation of Earth Observations and Heat Wave Definitions

open access: yesGeoHealth, Volume 10, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Extreme heat has been associated with adverse health outcomes, yet its impact on asthma exacerbations remains understudied. This is, in part, due to data limitations: research that relies on weather station records and aggregated health statistics cannot resolve fine‐scale differences in heat impacts.

Electrophoresis‐Enhanced Delivery of Rhamnolipid‐Coated Ozone Micro‐Nano Bubbles for Remediating Heterogeneous Aquifer

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Remediating organic pollutants in heterogeneous aquifer presents a significant challenge due to the limited penetration of chemical reagents into these zones. Ozone micro‐nano bubbles, with their small diameters, can transport to low‐permeability zone (LPZ) and oxidize target contaminants; however, their mobility is often hindered by ...

Resource Saving and Environmental Benefits From Cooking With Natural Fiber Handcrafted Boxes

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
Cooking meals in handcrafted boxes is commonly perceived as a more sustainable option than using hobs. This paper conducts a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that substantiates this assumption, quantitatively demonstrating that meal preparation without the box can lead to significantly higher overall environmental impacts.

Radiographic evaluation of gastroliths in a group of 49 juvenile saltwater crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus) in the UK

open access: yesVeterinary Record, Volume 198, Issue 8, Page e343-e350, 18/25 April 2026.
Abstract Background Gastrolith ingestion is a known inherent behaviour in crocodiles. However, the interpretation of coelomic radiographs in crocodilians is challenging due to the limited informative literature in this field. Methods Dorsoventral coelomic radiographs of 49 juvenile saltwater crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus) were acquired twice, with an ...
