Associations between wearable‐device‐measured daytime and nighttime light exposures and dementia risk: A prospective cohort study

open access: yesGeneral Psychiatry, Volume 39, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Identifying reliable predictors for dementia remains a critical unmet need. Light exposure plays a crucial role in regulating circadian rhythms, which influence cognitive function. However, the association between light exposure and dementia risk remains unclear.

Environmental Exposure to Emerging Per‐ and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances and Cardiovascular Diseases: A Mixture Analysis

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are persistent environmental contaminants with potential cardiovascular effects. However, evidence on their combined (mixture) impact remains limited. Cancer pattern in Bhutan (2014–2022): Findings from population‐based cancer registry—A pathway to monitor cancer control activities

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 11, Page 2829-2840, 1 June 2026.
What's new? The establishment in 2014 of the population‐based cancer registry (PBCR) of Bhutan created new opportunities for understanding national cancer trends, which previously were anticipated from data in neighbouring countries. The mediating roles of gut microbiota in the associations of air pollution and meteorological factors with metabolic syndrome

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 2, June 2026.
We characterized distinct gut microbial community clusters associated with metabolic syndrome (MetS) and identified key genera underlying these patterns. Health‐associated clusters were dominated by beneficial genera such as Bacteroides and Prevotella with known metabolic protective functions.

Association Between Socioeconomic Status and Chronic Diseases Among Middle‐Aged and Older Adults in China

open access: yesiNew Medicine, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2026.
This study of 17,234 Chinese adults aged ≥ 45 found that higher SES, level of education, and urban residence were associated with increased multimorbidity. The findings should be interpreted with caution, as they may be driven by differential healthcare access and diagnosis rather than genuine differences in disease burden.
