Amniotomy to Induce Labor

Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1995
Amniotomy to induce labor is used frequently. The potential risks compared with potential benefits of artificial rupture of membranes have caused the popularity of amniotomy to vary in the last two centuries. Although there are little data available from prospective randomized studies regarding the effectiveness of amniotomy alone to induce labor ...

Oxytocin to Induce Labor

Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1995
Oxytocin is a highly successful and safe agent for inducing labor and has a fairly large therapeutic index. It has, however, minimal, but not trivial, antidiuretic and vascular activity when used in large doses. Therefore, to induce labor, low-dose oxytocin dosing regimens that produce efficacious uterine activity and avoid side effects are recommended.

To Induce or Not to Induce Labor: A Macrosomic Dilemma

Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 2004
We assessed the effect of labor induction among parturients carrying macrosomic fetuses on the risk of a cesarean section (CS). The study population consisted of consecutive women with singleton fetuses weighing ≧4,000 g, delivered between 1988 and 1999.

Labor Shares in a Model of Induced Innovation [PDF]

open access: possibleSSRN Electronic Journal, 2011
The relative stability of aggregate labor share constitutes one of the great macroeconomic ratios. However, relative stability at the aggregate level masks the unbalanced nature of sectoral labor shares. We present a two-sector (manufacturing and services) model with induced innovation that can rationalize these phenomena as well as several other ...

Inducing Labor by Rupturing Membranes

Postgraduate Medicine, 1968
Rupturing the membranes usually induces labor and carries little risk. Of 1,235 patients subjected to amniotomy, 89 percent were in labor in four hours, and only 3 percent required oxytocin to start contractions. Although complications are few, physicians should not rupture the membranes simply for their own or the patient's convenience.

Progress of induced labor in trial of labor after cesarean delivery

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2015

Outcomes of induced versus spontaneous labor

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2016
Induced labor is associated with a higher request for analgesia than spontaneous labor. This study compared duration of labor, mode of delivery, quantity of blood loss, type of perineal outcome and neonatal outcomes between women in induced labor and women in spontaneous labor, both on epidural analgesia (administered at cervical dilation  ≤ 4 cm).In a

Can Labor with Breech Presentation Be Induced?

Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 1998
Our objective was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of labor induction in women with a breech presentation, and an unripe cervix. We conducted a retrospective, matched-paired study on patients with breech presentation and an unripe cervix (n = 23), who underwent induction of labor using extra-amniotic saline instillation.
