THE RATE OF INDUCIBLE CLINDAMYCIN RESISTANCE AND SUSCEPTIBILITIES TO OTHER ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS IN STAPHYLOCOCCI

open access: yes
Staphylococci are one of the most common pathogens isolated from nosocomial and community acquired infections. Antibiotics used by oral route such as erythromycin, clindamycin, trimethoprim-sulphamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) and quinolones are of value ...

Prevalence of inducible clindamycin resistance in macrolide-resistant Staphylococcus spp. [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Microbiology and Infection, 2005
Between January 2002 and December 2003, macrolide-resistant isolates of Staphylococcus aureus (n = 45) and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS; n = 75) from a Greek hospital were examined phenotypically for inducible clindamycin resistance.

Inducible clindamycin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus isolated from clinical samples

open access: yesIndian Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2010
Purpose: Clindamycin is commonly used in the treatment of erythromycin resistant Staphylococcus aureus causing skin and soft tissue infections. In vitro routine tests for clindamycin susceptibility may fail to detect inducible clindamycin resistance ...

Prevalence of inducible clindamycin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus

Journal of Academy of Medical Sciences, 2012
Background and Objectives: The emergence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has led to the use of Macrolide-Lincosamide-Streptogramin B (MLS B ) antibiotics to treat MRSA infections. Clinical failures can result if resistance to these drugs is inadequately tested.

Selection of constitutively resistant mutants of inducible clindamycin-resistantBacteroides vulgatus

European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases, 1989
The rate of spontaneous mutation to constitutive clindamycin resistance and the kinetics of selection of such mutants in preinduced and non-preinduced cells was evaluated in the Bacteroides vulgatus strain RYC18F6 (original MIC less than or equal to 0.25 micrograms/ml), which shows inducible resistance to clindamycin and erythromycin.

Occurrence and characterization of inducible clindamycin resistance in canine methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius

Veterinary Journal, 2016
This study aimed to detect inducible clindamycin (iCLI) resistance in Staphylococcus pseudintermedius isolated from dogs in Thailand using D-zone testing. Strains that were iCLI-resistant were characterized by molecular typing and antibiogram and were detected in 10/200 S. pseudintermedius isolates (5%) from 7/41 dogs (17%).

Incidence of inducible clindamycin resistance in staphylococci: first results from Turkey [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Microbiology and Infection, 2005
In total, 408 staphylococcal isolates were tested for inducible clindamycin resistance (ICR) by the disk-diffusion induction test (D-test). ICR was detected in 5.7% of 105 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates, 3.6% of 111 methicillin-susceptible S.

Review of Inducible Clindamycin Resistance in Staphylococcus aureus

International Journal of Drug Delivery Technology
Staphylococcus aureus is a major pathogen responsible for a wide range of infections, from mild skin lesions to severe systemic diseases, both hospital- and community-acquired infections. The increasing incidence of antibiotic resistance, especially inducible clindamycin resistance mediated by erm genes, poses a serious challenge in clinical management.
