Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

A Plant Defense Response Effector Induces Microbial Apoptosis [PDF]
Osmotin is a tobacco PR-5 protein that has antifungal activity and is implicated in host-plant defense. We show here that osmotin induces apoptosis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Induction of apoptosis was correlated with intracellular accumulation of reactive oxygen species and was mediated by RAS2, but not RAS1.
