On generation of inductive hypotheses

International Journal of Man-Machine Studies, 1977
A logic of discovery developed as a theoretical background of certain methods of mechanized formation of inductive hypotheses is surveyed. In the first part a logic of induction is developed, based on formal notions of observational and theoretical calculi and inductive inference rules.

Feature Selection for Inductive Generalization

Cognitive Science, 2010
AbstractJudging similarities among objects, events, and experiences is one of the most basic cognitive abilities, allowing us to make predictions and generalizations. The main assumption in similarity judgment is that people selectively attend to salient features of stimuli and judge their similarities on the basis of the common and distinct features ...

A proof of generalized induction

ACM SIGACT News, 1987
The purpose of the paper is to expose the means by which the theorem of generalized induction (introduced as an axiom in the author's earlier paper in Z. Math. Logik Grundlagen Math. 26, 115-122 (1980; Zbl 0436.04003]) rests on the descending chain condition, DCC, for the system EP.

Brushless induction synchronous generator

2016 IEEE 25th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2016
In present scenario of renewable energy generation systems, brush-less and magnet-less generators are becoming more popular due to merits such as high reliability, robustness, fault tolerant capability and almost maintenance free operation, etc. This paper deals with a brushless induction synchronous generator (BInSyG), where an induction and a ...

Generic induction proofs

1993
We summarize a number of new results concerning inductive-theorem proving in the area of design specifications using Horn logic with equality. Induction is explicit here because induction orderings must be integrated into the specification. However, the proofs need less guidance if the specification is ground confluent and strongly terminating. Calculi

Capacitive Excitation for Induction Generators

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1935
Up to the present, applications of induction generators have been limited, mainly because they must be paralleled with an existing synchronous system to determine their frequency and voltage and to obtain their necessary excitation. The tests described in this paper show that an induction machine may be operated as an independent or isolated generator ...

Inductively Generating the Spherical Harmonics

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1991
Summary: The spherical harmonics of degree less than or equal to \(k\) in \(\mathbb{R}^{n-1}\) are used to generate the spherical harmonics of degree \(k\) in \(\mathbb{R}^n\).

Inductive rule generation and interpretation

Journal of Experimental & Theoretical Artificial Intelligence, 1991
Abstract The problem of knowledge acquisition has been recognized as the major bottleneck in the development of knowledge-based systems. An encouraging approach to alleviate this problem is inductive learning. Inductive learning systems accept, as input, a set of data that represent instances of the problem domain and produce, as output, the rules of ...
