Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Position Control of Motor Drive Systems: A Data Driven Approach

open access: yesRenewable Energy and Sustainable Development, 2015
This paper presents a new model free approach to the design of robust PID controller for the position control of electrical machines, such as induction motor, synchronous motor and DC motor faced to un-modeled dynamics. It is illustrated that knowing the

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Reduced-Order Flux Observers With Stator-Resistance Adaptation for Speed-Sensorless Induction Motor Drives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper deals with reduced-order flux observers with stator-resistance adaptation for speed-sensorless induction motor drives. A general analytical solution for the stabilizing observer gain is given.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

High-Frequency Induction Drive Analysis for Common Mode and Differential Mode Impedance Characteristics

open access: yesEng
The parasitic currents issue arises in induction machines operating at higher frequencies. The parasitic current flow is the main cause of premature degradation of winding insulation deterioration and bearing damage.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Speed Estimators Using Stator Resistance Adaptation for Sensorless Induction Motor Drive

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2016
The paper describes speed estimators for a speed sensorless induction motor drive with the direct torque and flux control. However, the accuracy of the direct torque control depends on the correct information of the stator resistance, because its value ...
