First Non‐Invasive Monitoring of Fecal Steroids in Greater Caribbean Manatees (Trichechus manatus manatus)

open access: yesZoo Biology, EarlyView.
This study established the first fecal hormonal reference values (P4/E2) for the Greater Caribbean manatee. Using non‐invasive ELISA, the authors found no significant differences between mature and immature females, highlighting that long‐term monitoring and ultrasounds are essential to fully understand their complex reproductive cycles.

Weight-Lowering Drugs and Natural Female Fertility-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Obes
ABSTRACT Overweight and obesity are global health concerns linked to impaired female fertility. Weight‐lowering drugs are an alternative for achieving weight loss; however, their effect on natural female fertility is unclear. A systematic review and meta‐analysis were conducted to summarise the literature on the effects of weight‐lowering drugs on ...

Snowmelt predicts earlier breeding across the latitudinal range of an Arctic nesting seabird, the Little Auk (Alle alle)

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Multi‐year monitoring of the crevice‐nesting High Arctic seabird, the Little Auk (Alle alle), across four colonies spanning distinct climatic regimes revealed that snowmelt timing is a key and consistent driver of breeding phenology. Earlier snowmelt advances access to nesting habitat, enabling birds to initiate reproduction sooner. These findings show

Significance of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone Receptor Gene Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism rs6165/rs6166 Analysis for Infertility-Associated Ovarian Disease Susceptibility Prediction and Optimized Individualized Ovulation Induction/Ovarian Stimulation

open access: yesDiagnostics
Follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) is expressed on the plasma membrane of granulosa cells in the ovarian follicles. FSHR is involved in the development and maturation of Graafian follicles, along with granulosa proliferation and estrogen ...

Microbial and Metabolic Correlates of Endometrial Dysfunction in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Translational Study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) exhibit a substantially increased risk of miscarriage, yet the underlying mechanisms remain inadequately understood. This study aimed to investigate whether specific gut microbial dysbiosis and metabolic disturbance are associated with and may potentially contribute to endometrial ...

Calcitonin‐like diuretic hormone influences reproduction in adult female Rhodnius prolixus

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Highlights • CT/DH‐like immunoreactivity is present in female reproductive tissues • CT/DH receptor transcripts are expressed in the fat body and ovaries • RNAi knockdown of CT/DH receptors reduces egg number and hatching rate • Rhopr‐CT/DH increases RhoprVg1 and RhoprVgR expression in ovaries in vitro • Rhopr‐CT/DH stimulates oviduct contractions in a
