Cardiovascular Effects of Anesthetic Induction with Ketamine
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 1980Anesthetic induction with ketamine has been reported to maintain or improve cardiovascular performance in severely ill patients. Using invasive cardiovascular monitoring, we studied physiologic responses to a single dose of ketamine in 12 critically ill patients. Six patient demonstrated decreases in ventricular contractility, and four had decreases in

Effect of Thiopental Induction on Sympathetic Activity
Anesthesiology, 1983Several recent studies with different anesthetic agents have reported increases in plasma norepinephrine concentration during induction. To determine if induction with intravenous injection of thiopental also is associated with initial sympathetic activation, 24 ASA class I patients were assigned randomly to receive one of the following anesthetics ...

The inductive effect in transistors
Solid-State Electronics, 1965Abstract The well known phenomenon of inductive behavior of transistors is re-examined in order to understand its potentialities. The calculations and experiments show that the performance is better than generally believed. The problem is formulated mathematically and the maximum inductance and Q are calculated with the aid of a computer. Excluding

Inductive effects on the structure of proline residues
International Journal of Peptide and Protein Research, 19944(S)‐Hydroxyproline (Hyp) residues constitute about l0%, of most forms of collagen, the most abundant protein in vertebrates. X‐Ray diffraction analysis was used to ascertain how the structure of proline residues is affected by the inductive effect elicited by the hydroxyl group of Hyp residues.

Processing Speed in the Motion-Induction Effect
Perception, 1995The motion-induction effect, where an illusory motion is perceived within a bar when it is shown next to a spot presented slightly earlier, was studied with respect to the idea that it is based on differential processing speeds between the two ends of the bar.

Abstract Many existing rule learning systems are computationally expensive on large noisy datasets. In this paper we evaluate the recently-proposed rule learning algorithm IREP on a large and diverse collection of benchmark problems. We show that while IREP is extremely efficient, it frequently gives error rates higher than those of C4.5 and C4 ...

In vitro effect of aspartame in angiogenesis induction
Toxicology in Vitro, 2011Aspartame (APM) is the most widely used artificial sweetener and is added to a wide variety of foods, beverages, drugs, and hygiene products. In vitro and in vivo tests have reported contradictory data about APM genotoxicity. We evaluated the angiogenic effect of APM in an in vitro model using blood vessel development assay (Angio-Kit), cultured ...

Cancer induction and non-stochastic effects
The British Journal of Radiology, 1987The mechanisms of carcinogenesis are not known in detail, but there is strong evidence that cancer usually arises from a single transformed cell. Hence, although the process of carcinogenesis appears to require a multiplicity of changes in the affected cancer-forming cell, such as may be associated with successive stages of tumour initiation, tumour ...
