Towards a Principled Representation of Discourse Plans [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We argue that discourse plans must capture the intended causal and decompositional relations between communicative actions. We present a planning algorithm, DPOCL, that builds plan structures that properly capture these relations, and show how these ...

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Knowledge Graph-Based Framework to Support Human-Centered Collaborative Manufacturing in Industry 5.0

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The importance of highly monitored and analyzed processes, linked by information systems such as knowledge graphs, is growing. In addition, the integration of operators has become urgent due to their high costs and from a social point of view.

Alternative line delivery strategies support a forklift free transition in a high product variety environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Forklift transport fails when it comes to efficiency. As a result, more and more attention is going to alternative transport systems that automate or further structure the material flow; such as line deliveries by train and conveyor technology.

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

MyAID: a Troubleshooting Application for Supporting Human Operators in Industrial Environment

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2016
Abstract Nowadays manufacturing systems are increasing in sophistication and complexity. In this scenario, human operators experience many diffculties to interact effciently with the machine. To tackle this problem, in this paper we present a novel interactive troubleshooting tool to be used in industrial environment. The application, called MyAID ,

Quantitative Methodology to Support the Hazard Assessment of Confined Space Operations in the Process Industry

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2020
Confined spaces represent a critical issue for the safety of workers. Several accidents, often fatal, occurred in the process industry, caused by inadequate education and training about the possible formation of toxic and/or explosive atmospheres generated by the variation of environmental parameters such as temperature, or by the working operations ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...
