Real‐Time Detection of Hot Electrons During Chemical Reactions with Catalytic Nanodevices
This Review highlights recent advances in the detection of hot electrons generated during catalytic surface reactions through non‐adiabatic energy dissipation. By integrating metal–semiconductor junctions into catalytic nanodevices, researchers can monitor charge carrier flow in real time, offering new insights into interfacial energy conversion ...

Advancing Energy Materials by In Situ Atomic Scale Methods
Progress in in situ atomic scale methods leads to an improved understanding of new and advanced energy materials, where a local understanding of complex, inhomogeneous systems or interfaces down to the atomic scale and quantum level is required. Topics from photovoltaics, dissipation losses, phase transitions, and chemical energy conversion are ...

On‐Surface Synthesis and Characterization of Cumulene‐Linked Stone‐Wales Polymers
On‐surface synthesis of one‐dimensional polymers featuring Stone‐Wales defects and cumulene linkages is demonstrated via thermally and light‐induced reactions on Au(111). STM, nc‐AFM, and Raman spectroscopy, complemented by theory calculations, reveal their chemical structure with a non‐planar geometry, and a distinct electronic bandgap of 1.8 eV ...

Substitution by larger polyanions in the fast sodium ion conductor Na11+xSn2+xP1−xS12 leads to inhomogeneities in the local structure which induces micro strain. The observed strain correlates with higher local diffusivities at room temperature and a lowering of the activation barriers for local ionic jumps which is explained by a widening of ...

A covalent interaction between La and Bi atoms in the intermetalloid f‐/p‐block cluster [(La@In2Bi11)2Bi2]6–, similar to but larger than that in XeF2, is revealed based on quantum chemistry and valence band X‐ray emission spectroscopy. Abstract Main goals of contemporary research in chemistry are to create new materials with unique properties and to ...

Partially disordered Cr‐based Li‐rich oxides are developed, featuring ordered, layered‐like environments integrated through a common oxygen sublattice with cation‐mixed regions. This activates new Li+ diffusion channels, enabling these cathodes to be used in their as‐synthesized form with micron‐sized particles.
