Delaying the Inevitable? U.S. Screwworm Closures and Feeder Cattle Market Dynamics
ABSTRACT Biosecurity trade restrictions are commonly framed as preventive measures, yet in many settings they function primarily as policies of delay: they impose immediate market costs while only postponing the arrival of biological risks. This paper evaluates that intertemporal tradeoff using the 2024–2025 US suspension of live cattle imports from ...

Improved versions of certain Bernstein and Turán-type inequalities on polynomials
In this paper, we establish some new results on Bernstein and Turán-type inequalities for polynomials on the unit circle on the complex plane by using an improved Schwarz Lemma at the boundary recently proved by Mercer.

Estimates of the Hyperbolic Radius Gradient and Schwarz–Pick Inequalities for the Eccentric Annulus [PDF]
Let Ω and Π be hyperbolic domains in the complex plane C. By A(Ω, Π) we shall designate the class of functions f which are holomorphic or meromorphic in Ω and such that f(Ω) ϲ Π.

The Power of Unity: Collective Action and Smallholder Agricultural Performance in West Africa
ABSTRACT We analyze the impact of collective action through farmer‐based organizations (FBOs) on smallholders' farm performance and income inequality in Ghana, Benin, The Gambia, and Mali. We find that FBO membership increases cereal yield in Ghana and The Gambia, legume yield in Mali, ruminant numbers in Benin and The Gambia, and total farm income in ...

Do More Open Economies Export Less Diversely in Brazilian Agribusiness?
ABSTRACT This paper asks whether municipalities with a larger export‐to‐revenue ratio display a more concentrated bundle of exported goods in Brazilian agribusiness. Recent advances in export imputation for Brazilian municipalities allow for an analysis of the concentration profile of each municipality and its association with export openness.

Equivalence of Markov's and Schur's inequalities on compact subsets of the complex plane
The equivalence of the inequalities of Markov \[ \|P'\|_{L^q(E)}\leq C_1(\text{deg} P)^{m_1}\|P\|_{L^q(E)} \] and Schur \[ \|P\|_{L^q(E)}\leq C_2(\text{deg} P)^{m_2}\|(x-x_0)P(x)\|_{L^q(E)} \] (\(x\in{\mathbb C}\); \(C_1, C_2, m_1, m_2\) positive constants depending on the compact subset \(E\subset {\mathbb C}\) and \(q\in [1,\infty]\)) is well known ...

Programmable Flocks: Hierarchical Swarm Control via Dynamic Parameter Injection
We present a method for the control of robot swarms which allows the shaping and the translation of patterns of simple robots (“smart particles”), using two types of devices. These two types represent a hierarchy: a larger group of simple, oblivious robots (which we call the workers) that is governed by simple local attraction forces and a smaller ...

Dynamics of inequalities in geometric function theory
A domain in the complex plane which is star-like with respect to a boundary point can be approximated by domains which are star-like with respect to interior points. This approximation process can be viewed dynamically as an evolution of the null points

The phase discontinuity problem—where the cyclic nature of phase angles causes catastrophic errors near the ±π boundary—is a fundamental obstacle in learning‐based reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) optimization. A phase‐aware hybrid CNN–LSTM framework resolves this by decomposing phase predictions into sine–cosine components, mapping circular ...
