On polynomial approximation in the complex plane with application to conformal mapping [PDF]
We consider the selection of polynomial bases for polynomial approximation of analytic functions on bounded simply connected regions in the complex plane. While a monomial basis may be very ill-conditioned, we show that a basis of Lagrange polynomials with Fejér points as nodes is well-conditioned.

Approximation by complex Stancu Beta operators of second kind in semidisks
In this paper, the exact order of simultaneous approximation and Voronovskaja kind results with quantitative estimate for the complex Stancu Beta operator of second kind attached to analytic functions of exponential growth in semidisks of the right

A Note on Rational Approximation with Respect to Metrizable Compactifications of the Plane [PDF]
In the present note we examine possible extensions of Runge, Mergelyan and Arakelian Theorems, when the uniform approximation is meant with respect to the metric ρ of a metrizable compactification (S, ρ) of the complex plane C.

On the Reflection of a Spherical Sound Wave from a Finite Size Surface
Room acoustics computer models based on geometrical acoustics usually handle the sound reflections by the assumption of plane waves. However, if the sound source is a point source, which is usually the case, the spherical wave reflection would be more ...

High-energy photoemission final states beyond the free-electron approximation
Three-dimensional (3D) electronic band structure is fundamental for understanding a vast diversity of physical phenomena in solid-state systems, including topological phases, interlayer interactions in van der Waals materials, dimensionality-driven phase

Asymptotic analysis of flow near a glacier terminus
The non-linearly viscous ice flow in the vicinity of a glacier terminus, an observation region, depends crucially on the upstream flow as well as on the local surface and bed conditions.

Holographic equilibration in confining gauge theories under external magnetic fields
We investigate the effect of external magnetic fields on equilibration in the improved holographic QCD theory in the deconfined phase using the AdS/CFT correspondence.

Evanescent waves and deaf bands in sonic crystals
The properties of sonic crystals (SC) are theoretically investigated in this work by solving the inverse problem k(ω) using the extended plane wave expansion (EPWE).

The paper expands the finite difference method to the complex plane, and thus obtains an improvement in the resolution of differential equations with an increase in numerical precision and a generalization in the mathematical modeling of problems.
