Robust
In this paper, the first contribution is the introduction of two novel conditions derived from the application of Finsler’s Lemma sequentially, which enable a new approach to controller design for discrete-time uncertain systems.

From pseudo-holomorphic functions to the associated real manifold
This paper studies first the differential inequalities that make it possible to build a global theory of pseudo-holomorphic functions in the case of one or several complex variables.

Foreign labor, peer‐networking and agricultural efficiency in the Italian dairy sector
Abstract While the presence of immigrants in the agricultural sector is widely acknowledged, the empirical evidence on its economic consequences is lacking, especially from a microeconomic perspective. Using the Farm Accountancy Data Network panel data for Italian dairy farms in the period 2008–2018, the present study investigates the relationship ...

Markov and Bernstein type inequalities for polynomials
In an answer to a question raised by chemist Mendeleev, A. Markov proved that if is a real polynomial of degree , then The above inequality which is known as Markov's Inequality is best possible and becomes equality for the Chebyshev polynomial .

The Power of Unity: Collective Action and Smallholder Agricultural Performance in West Africa
ABSTRACT We analyze the impact of collective action through farmer‐based organizations (FBOs) on smallholders' farm performance and income inequality in Ghana, Benin, The Gambia, and Mali. We find that FBO membership increases cereal yield in Ghana and The Gambia, legume yield in Mali, ruminant numbers in Benin and The Gambia, and total farm income in ...

A multiscale Bayesian optimization framework for process and material codesign
Abstract The simultaneous design of processes and enabling materials such as solvents, catalysts, and adsorbents is challenging because molecular‐ and process‐level decisions are strongly interdependent. Sequential approaches often yield suboptimal results since improvements in material properties may not translate into superior process performance. We

Trust‐region filter algorithms utilizing Hessian information for gray‐box optimization
Abstract Optimizing industrial processes often involves gray‐box models that couple algebraic glass‐box equations with black‐box components lacking analytic derivatives. Such systems challenge derivative‐based solvers. The classical trust‐region filter (TRF) algorithm provides a robust framework but requires extensive parameter tuning and numerous ...

A trust‐region funnel algorithm for gray‐box optimization
Abstract Gray‐box optimization, where parts of optimization problems are represented by algebraic models while others are treated as black‐box models lacking analytic derivatives, remains a challenge. Trust‐region (TR) methods provide a robust framework for gray‐box problems through local reduced models (RMs) for black‐box components, but they are ...

On some inequalities for the two-parameter Mittag-Leffler function in the complex plane
For the two-parameter Mittag-Leffler function $E_{α,β}$ with $α> 0$ and $β\ge 0,$ we consider the question whether $|E_{α,β}(z)|$ and $E_{α,β}(\Re z)$ are comparable on the whole complex plane. We show that the inequality $|E_{α,β}(z)|\le E_{α,β}(\Re z)$ holds globally if and only if $E_{α,β}(-x)$ is completely monotone on $(0,\infty)$. For $α\in [1,

Abstract Under time‐varying electricity prices, the production costs of Power‐to‐X processes with intermediate storage can be reduced by simultaneously optimizing the process unit design and size with their scheduling and operation. However, the production cost sensitivity to optimal process design or scheduling is unclear, especially when several ...
