A Review on Sensor Technologies, Control Approaches, and Emerging Challenges in Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review provides an introspective of sensors and controllers in soft robotics. Initially describing the current sensing methods, then moving on to the control methods utilized, and finally ending with challenges and future directions in soft robotics focusing on the material innovations, sensor fusion, and embedded intelligence for sensors and ...

THE -CAPTURE PROBLEM FOR INERTIAL MOTIONS UNDER INTEGRAL CONSTRAINTS

open access: yes
In this paper, we consider the -capture problem in a differential game with inertial objects (a pursuer and an evader). These objects have controls that are subject to integral constraints and start with identical initial velocity vectors in Euclidean space.

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

GNSS Aided Inertial Human Body Motion Capture

open access: yes, 2016
Human body motion capture systems based on inertial sensors (gyroscopes andaccelerometers) are able to track the relative motions in the body precisely, oftenwith the aid of supplementary sensors. The sensor measurements are combinedthrough a sensor fusion algorithm to create estimates of, among other parame-ters, position, velocity and orientation for

Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.
