Chemistry Underlying the Behavior of Food and Agricultural Components During Industrial Manufacturing Processes and Its Implications in Quality Assurance, Food Quality, and Food Safety Management: A Systematic Review

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Industrial manufacturing processes have transformative effects on the components of food matrix. These transformations in food matrix and components have direct implications for quality assurance (QA), food quality (e.g., nutritional profile and texture), and food safety management (e.g., pathogen control and toxin mitigation). ABSTRACT This systematic

Recent Paradigms in Nanomaterial‐Assisted Electrochemical (Bio) Sensing for Food Quality and Safety Analysis: A Critical Review

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rising global demand for safe and unadulterated foods has accelerated the need for rapid, low‐cost, and portable analytical technologies. Traditional laboratory methods, although accurate, are often labor‐intensive and unsuitable for decentralized, real‐time monitoring. In response, nanomaterial‐assisted electrochemical sensors have emerged as

The Unintended Consequences of Sugar‐Sweetened Beverage Taxes on Sales and Prices of Beer Beverages

open access: yesHealth Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper estimates the causal effect of Berkeley's sugar‐sweetened beverage (SSB) tax on beer purchases and prices using retail scanner data from 2014 to 2015. Applying both synthetic control and difference‐in‐differences (DID) approaches, we find that the tax reduced beer purchases within Berkeley by 8.9%, while having a negligible effect ...

Research progress on the depth of anesthesia monitoring based on the electroencephalogram

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 32-43, Spring 2025.
Electroencephalogram (EEG) can noninvasive, continuous, and real‐time monitor the state of brain electrical activity, and the monitoring of EEG can reflect changes in the depth of anesthesia (DOA). The development of artificial intelligence can enable anesthesiologists to extract, analyze, and quantify DOA from complex EEG data.

Second‐trimester multimetabolite panel for early preeclampsia rule‐out

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We aimed to establish a high‐sensitivity, multimetabolite rule‐out model for the development of preeclampsia (PE), prioritizing minimizing false negatives to exclude low‐risk individuals from intensive surveillance confidently. Methods In this prospective, nested case–control study, maternal serum samples were collected between 20+0 ...
