Infantile Cerebellar‐Retinal Degeneration Associated With Novel ACO2 Variants: Clinical Features and Insights From a Drosophila Model

open access: yesClinical Genetics, Volume 108, Issue 3, Page 266-278, September 2025.
Our Translational Loop integrates patient genetic data with Drosophila models to study disease mechanisms. We identified ACO2 variants in a patient linked to ICRD and show that our animal model mirrors key aspects of the disease. These insights help pinpoint therapeutic targets, advancing research toward treatments for rare genetic disorders.

Strabismus in very low birth weight and/or very preterm children: Discrepancy between age of onset and start of treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Present medical care is not sufficient for early detection and treatment of strabismus in at-risk children. Our results suggest that the optimal screening age for early detection of persistent strabismus in VLBW children is at 9 months of age.

Isolated Abducens Nerve Palsy in an Adolescent With Confounding Multisystem Serology: A Case Report and Diagnostic Review

open access: yesCase Reports in Pediatrics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Cranial nerve palsies in pediatric patients are rare and can be challenging to diagnose due to the broad spectrum of potential causes, including infections, inflammation, neoplasms, and idiopathic conditions. Abducens nerve palsy (ANP), though uncommon, is of particular interest due to its association with both intracranial and systemic pathologies. We
