Malignant Middle Cerebral Artery Infarction Resulting from Dissection of Middle Cerebral Artery
Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, 2015A 30-year-old man presented with headache, left hemiparesis, and uncal herniation. Magnetic resonance imaging showed acute infarction in the right middle cerebral artery (MCA). Lifesaving craniotomy proceeded because of the uncal herniation. Assessment of brain tissue led to a diagnosis of MCA dissection.

Malignant middle cerebral artery infarction
Current Opinion in Critical Care, 2012This review will report on the new aspects of management of 'malignant' middle cerebral artery (MCA) infarctions.Large MCA infarctions have been associated with high death rates for years. The most reliable predictors of a 'malignant' course are hypodensity in more than 50% of the MCA territory on computed tomography as well as stroke volume greater ...

Superficial Middle Cerebral Artery Territory Infarction
2012The superficial middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory includes the greater part of the lateral surface of the cerebral hemisphere. It is the most frequent infarct in MCA ischemic cerebrovascular pathology. It is divided into 12 areas supplied by 12 different arteries referred to as the irrigated areas; however, anatomical variations should be ...

Hemicraniectomy for malignant middle cerebral artery infarction
Current Opinion in Critical Care, 2009Space-occupying, malignant hemispheric infarction is one of the most devastating forms of ischemic stroke. Several case series had suggested decompressive hemicraniectomy as a life-saving therapy, but, until recently, there was no proof for this procedure from randomized controlled trials. In 2007, results from a pooled analysis of three European trials

Reduplication after Right Middle Cerebral Artery Infarction
Brain and Cognition, 1993Reduplication and misidentification syndromes are similar and peculiar phenomena of disorientation and beliefs with delusional qualities. They are more frequent among neurologic and psychiatric patients than previously thought. Organic factors play a definitive role in their occurrence.

Large Middle Cerebral Artery and Panhemispheric Infarction
2012Large middle cerebral artery (MCA) and panhemispheric stroke represent a minority of cerebral ischemic events, yet they are responsible for a disproportionate share of morbidity and mortality. Malignant infarction with formation of cerebral edema is a common cause for secondary neurologic deterioration.
