Infection rate of simple suturing
Journal of the American College of Emergency Physicians, 1976Four hundred consecutive patients with superficial lacerations participated in a study of infection rate of lacerations sutured in an emergency department. Of these, 322 (85%) returned for suture removal. An infection rate of 5% was noted. Reported incidence of infection among the 68 (17%) non-returnees was 5.8%.

Glucose disappearance rate in neonatal infection
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1973Bagging pressures rarely exceed the popoff pressure of 22 mm. Hg. The electrical elements of the unit are outside the incubator, and hence accidental contact with other electrical leads such as monitoring cables is highly unlikely. The only possible leakage path is through the wellinsulated microswitch and down the oxygen tubing.

Reducing infection rates after prostate biopsy
Nature Reviews Urology, 2014Over the years, prostate biopsy has become the gold-standard technique for diagnosing prostate carcinoma. Worldwide, several million prostate biopsies are performed every year, most commonly using the transrectal approach. Preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis with fluoroquinolones has been shown to be effective for reducing infection rates.

Community Hospital Surgeon-Specific Infection Rates
Infection Control, 1987AbstractA one-year prospective study of surgeon-specific nosocomial infection rates was done in two community hospitals. Hospital A (93 beds) and Hospital B (158 beds) have nearly identical surgical staffs. Unified criteria for the diagnosis of infections, methods of data collection, and coding were used.

Wound Infection Rate in Dermatologic Surgery
The Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology, 1988Abstract. Most dermatologic surgery is performed in clinical settings and not in the rigorous sterile environment of a hospital operating room. This prospective study measures the wound infection rate over a 2 1/2 year period for cutaneous surgery performed in a clinical environment.

External ventricular drain infection: improved technique can reduce infection rates
British Journal of Neurosurgery, 2011The placement of external ventricular drain (EVD) is a common neurosurgical procedure to drain cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in many acute neurosurgical conditions that disrupt the normal CSF absorption pathway. Infection is the primary complication with infection rates ranging between 0% and 45%, and this is associated with significant morbidity and ...

The Impact of Postdischarge Infection on Surgical Wound Infection Rates
Infection Control, 1987AbstractWe undertook a study of postdischarge infections to assess the reliability of a surgical wound surveillance program in a 930-bed teaching hospital. During a six-month period, a subset of operations performed each day was randomly selected and patients interviewed by telephone one month postsurgery using a standard set of questions.

Postoperative wound infection rates.
Surgery, gynecology & obstetrics, 1977Postoperative wound infections following 5,260 selected procedures at a University Hospital were studied. These data were collected during a three year period using a single surveillance system. These data were compared with those of earlier reports. Accurate postoperative wound infection rates can be obtained as part of a total hospital surveillance ...
