Cerebellar control of the inferior olive

Cerebellum, 2006
A subpopulation of neurones in the cerebellar nuclei projects to the inferior olive, the source of the climbing fibre input to the cerebellum. This nucleo-olivary projection follows the zonal and, probably also, the microzonal arrangement of the cerebellum so that closed loops are formed between the neurones in the olive, the cerebellar cortex and the ...

Modeling inferior olive neuron dynamics

Neural Networks, 2002
A model for the study of the dynamic properties of inferior olive neuron is presented. The model, a dynamical system, comprises two autonomous components of minimal complexity that are capable of reproducing the large gamut of experimentally observed inferior olive neuron dynamics.

Influence of inferior olive on flexor reflex activity

Experimental Brain Research, 1986
In Wistar rats we have studied the effect of inferior olive lesion or activation on the threshold of a flexor reflex elicited by a nociceptive stimulus applied to the hindpaw. When the inferior olive is lesioned by means of 3-acetylpyridine, the threshold value is significantly decreased. A recovery occurs in 3-4 weeks.

HYPERTROPHY OF THE INFERIOR OLIVES IN THE CAT

Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology, 1962
In this paper 2 cases of olivary neuronal hypertrophy in the cat were described. They developed following ablation of the cerebellum, the central nuclei included. In one, in which one half of the cerebellum only was ablated totally and the other only partially, the most extensive distribution of hypertrophic neurons was contralateral to the total ...
