Assessing Surgical Extent in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: A Scoping Review of Scoring Systems

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, Volume 16, Issue 7, Page 695-715, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) varies substantially in the extent of surgical dissection performed, even when described under the same procedural label. In chronic rhinosinusitis, this heterogeneity may influence postoperative outcomes, revision rates, and response to biologic therapies.

Contralateral Nasoseptal Flap for Middle Cranial Fossa Defects After Osteoradionecrosis

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 2, April 2026.
Contralateral nasoseptal flaps are a valuable salvage option for reconstruction of large skull base defects when the ipsilateral pedicle is unavailable. We describe a reproducible step‐by‐step technique combining a contralateral Hadad–Bassagasteguy flap with a reverse‐rotation septal mucosal flap for repair of middle cranial fossa defects. The approach

Anterior Nasal Nerves: A Cadaveric Anatomic and Immunohistochemical Analysis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 3, Page 1158-1165, March 2026.
Anterior nasal nerves (ANNs) were identified in all cadavers, with more supplying the anterolateral nasal wall (ALNW) than the anterior portion of the inferior turbinate (IT), between the pyriform aperture (PA) and middle turbinate (MT). Both sensory and autonomic nerve markers were also identified in the ANNs.

RADA‐16 Reduces Postoperative Epistaxis After Inferior Turbinate Submucosal Resection

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 11, Page 4081-4085, November 2025.
RADA‐16 is a self‐assembling peptide matrix that forms a hydrogel structure, showing potential for enhanced wound healing and hemostasis. In this retrospective cohort study, postoperative bleeding rates were compared between patients treated with RADA‐16 and those without, demonstrating an association between RADA‐16 use and decreased rates of ...
