Oncovascular Resection in Pelvic Exenteration: A Systematic Review

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Risk of bias assessment using ROBINS‐1 V2. Selection of the reported result (D7) was judged based on omission of key expected outcomes, including margin status (R0 resection), postoperative complications and mortality. Studies not reporting these outcomes were classified as serious risk of bias, while those with broadly complete but non‐pre‐specified ...

An Optimized Multi‐Stage Drainage Cannula Design for Venoarterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
This study utilized an extensive optimization involving n = 540 design of experiments to produce a superior drainage cannula design. Compared to the clinically used Maquet model, our optimized design demonstrated reduced blood stagnation volumes, increased cannula tip velocities, and higher upper body drainage, potentially minimizing risk of thrombosis

Chemoproteomic discovery of a brain‐penetrant, covalent NLRP3 inhibitor that binds a novel allosteric pocket

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
NLRP3 is a promising inflammatory target, but existing inhibitors lack diversity and brain penetrance, and none are approved. Using chemoproteomics, we discovered a novel series that binds to Cys463 in a previously uncharacterized pocket. Compounds showed nanomolar potency, brain exposure, and in vivo suppression of IL‐1β, supporting neuroinflammatory ...

A Ten Year Overview of Adrenal Vein Sampling in Croatia: Insights and Outcomes

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Adrenal vein sampling (AVS) is the gold standard for subtype differentiation in primary aldosteronism (PA), yet it remains technically demanding and resource intensive. However, data on long‐term performance, learning curves, and concordance with imaging in real‐world clinical practice are limited.

Inferior vena cava obstruction secondary to hepatic alveolar echinococcosis: a case report

open access: yesEgyptian Liver Journal
Hepatic echinococcosis is a global zoonotic disease that typically manifests through direct invasion of the bile ducts and vascular structures of the liver, subsequently spreading to adjacent organs and tissues. Inferior vena cava syndrome resulting from

Progressive Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis Diagnosis Masking Pneumonic Lung Carcinoma: Anchoring Bias in Critical Care

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
A presumed case of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis with clinical deterioration was ultimately identified at autopsy as pneumonic‐type pleomorphic carcinoma. This case highlights the diagnostic overlap between diffuse lung diseases and the risk of anchoring bias in critically ill patients.

Comparison of Pentaspline Pulsed Field Ablation Catheter Mapping Modes to Assess Pulmonary Vein Isolation for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
Pentaspline mapping in pulsed field AF ablation. ABSTRACT Background We assessed the electro‐anatomic mapping (EAM) capabilities of a pulsed field ablation (PFA) system previously guided by fluoroscopy to assess acquisition modes, and effects of near and far‐field signal.
