A review of inferior vena cava filters
The care of patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) is delivered via a multidisciplinary team. The primary treatment for VTE is anticoagulation; however, placement of filter devices in the inferior vena cava (IVC) to prevent embolisation of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is a well-established secondary treatment option.

Complications of inferior vena cava filters [PDF]
Inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement is a relatively low risk alternative for prophylaxis against pulmonary embolism in patients with pelvic or lower extremity deep venous thrombosis who are not suitable for anticoagulation. There is an increasing trend in the number of IVC filter implantation procedures performed every year. There are many device

Clinical outcomes of inferior vena cava filter in complicated pulmonary embolism
Background: Previous observational studies suggest that inferior vena cava filter placement in pulmonary embolism patients complicated with congestive heart failure, mechanical ventilation, and shock may have a mortality benefit. We sought to analyze the

Endovascular retrieval of a Gunther-tulip vena cava filter migrated into the right atrium
A 72-year-old male underwent placement of a Gunther-tulip vena cava filter to prevent development of a pulmonary embolism. One month later, when we tried to retrieve the Gunther-tulip vena cava filter via a transjugular approach, the filter detached from
