PEGylation as a tool to improve the stability of garlic sulfides as nano-protectants from stored-product beetles infestation

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Society of Agricultural Sciences
This study aimed to develop PEGylation based nanoparticles using garlic essential oil (GEO) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) by melt-dispersion method. Physico-chemical characteristics of GEO loaded PEG nanoparticles (GPNs) was analysed by Differential ...

Anti‐PD‐1 Nanobody‐Armored MSLN CAR‐T Therapy for Malignant Mesothelioma: Preclinical and Clinical Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel therapy using engineered immune cells (NAC‐T cells) showed promise for refractory malignant mesothelioma. Based on the encouraging preclinical data, the first‐in‐human trial is initiated, demonstrating tolerable safety and promising anti‐tumor activity (ORR 63.6%, DCR 100%, including one CR).

BIO-EFFICACY OF THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF THYMUS VULGARIS AGAINST DERMESTES MACULATUS DEGEER 1774 (COLEOPTERA: DERMESTIDAE) INFESTING SMOKE-DRIED CLARIAS GARIEPINUS BURCHELL 1822

open access: yesThe Bioscientist, 2022
Increase in demand for an alternative to conventional pesticides, resulted in testing various plants materials against different storage pests. In this study, white thyme (Thymus vulgaris L) essential oil (TEO) obtained by steam distillation using ...

Modelling the effect of density vegetation coverage and the occurrence of peridomestic infestation by Triatoma infestans in rural houses of northwest of Córdoba, Argentina

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2021
To better understand the dispersion strategies of Triatoma infestans (Klug) (Hemiptera: Reduviidae, Triatominae), we evaluated the spatial effect of infested peridomicile and density vegetation cover in a historically endemic area for Chagas disease. The

GbWAKL20 Phosphorylates GbNFYB8 to Modulate Verticillium Wilt Resistance in Cotton

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wall‐associated receptor‐like kinases (WAKLs) play pivotal roles in extracellular–intracellular signal transduction. Upon sensing Verticillium dahliae infestation at the plasma membrane, GbWAKL20 accumulates and transmits signals to the nucleus via endoplasmic reticulum‐mediated Golgi vesicle transport.

Resistance Stability of the Secondary Tiller of \u27Caldwell\u27 Wheat After the Primary Culm Was Infested With Virulent Hessian Fly (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) Larvae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Secondary tiller resistance of \u27Caldwell\u27 wheat, Triticum aestivum, with the H6 gene for larval resistance to Hessian fly, Mayetiola destructor, was maintained, after the primary culm had been previously infested with virulent larvae.

Discovery of an Adaptive Neuroimmune Response Driving Itch and Fast Tick Removal with Implications for Preventing Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Doehl et al. discovered an adaptive neuroimmune mechanism that induces itch in tick‐exposed guinea pigs, enabling rapid tick removal. This itch‐induced tick removal (IITR) is mediated by an adaptive cellular immune response and is independent of IgG, IgE, or TRPV1.

Abundance of Cereal Aphids (Homoptera: Aphididae) and Their Predators in Spring Wheat-Alfalfa Intercrops Under Different Crop Management Intensities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Natural infestations of cereal aphids and abundance of their predators were compared from 1990 through 1993 among plots of intercropped spring wheat and alfalfa grown under high, intermediate, or low crop management intensity (CMI).
