Seismic behavior of AAC infill walls insulated with cementitious lightweight panels in reinforced concrete frames

Engineering structures, 2021
Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) walls are commonly used as infill walls in reinforced concrete frames. Thermal properties of infill walls in cold regions can be improved by bonding additional insulation panels. In this study, eight half-scale, one-bay,

Rocking Cantilever Clay Brick Infill Wall Panels: A Novel Low Damage Infill Wall System

Journal of Earthquake Engineering, 2016
In this article, the development of a new low damage clay brick infill wall system has been reported. The solution enables an engineer to control the drift level after which the infill wall damage can be allowed. This is achieved by utilizing a system of individual rocking clay brick infill panels rather than a single squat infill wall, which minimizes

Influence of infill wall in RC frames

Engineering for Rural Development, 2023
The function of infilled masonry reinforced concrete (RC) frame buildings during severe events such as blast caused by explosions or earth movement – earthquake and other significant lateral displacement could seriously damage a supporting frame column, causing the frame to collapse completely or partially.

Evaluation of participation of masonry infill walls in the linear and nonlinear behaviour of RC buildings with open ground storey

Journal of Building Engineering, 2021
In the present study, assessment of contribution of masonry infill wall in the linear range as well as exploration of post peak behaviour of RC buildings with open ground storey is targeted.

Innovative systems for earthquake-resistant masonry infill walls: Characterization of materials and masonry assemblages

Journal of Building Engineering, 2021
Masonry infill walls are the standard solution to build envelopes and partitions walls in reinforced concrete buildings in southern Europe. In Portugal, masonry infill walls appeared in the sixties, with the massive use of reinforced concrete frames for ...

Seismic evaluation of reinforced concrete structures infilled with masonry infill walls

Asian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2019
The current research work aims to investigate the seismic performance of the reinforced concrete structures fully, as well as, partially infilled with masonry infill (MI) walls. For that, a numerical study of three groups of two-dimensional framed structure has been conducted under dynamic time–history analysis. The three building groups are classified

Recent Results on Masonry Infill Walls

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
The paper summarizes the main research findings on masonry infill walls which were obtained within the framework of a comprehensive NSF-NEESR-SG project directed by Prof. Benson Shing at UC San Diego (Shing et al. 2009). The main focus of this contribution are experimental and computational observations on 2/3 scale unreinforced masonry panels ...

In-plane Quasi-static Cyclic Load Tests on Reinforced Concrete Frame Panels with and without Brick Masonry Infill Walls

Journal of earthquake engineering, 2021
In this paper, the influence of brick masonry infill walls on the seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) frames is investigated. The presence and the location of a door opening are considered as test variables.

Seismic Modeling of Infill Walls

2018
This chapter analyzes the seismic modeling of infill walls. the first part of the chapter describes the main parameters of the infill walls which influences the displacement capacity of a frame system. the failure mechanism are also discussed considering the presence of the surrounding frame. a large variety of analytical models which take into account

Strengthening masonry infill walls with reinforced plaster

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings, 2010
One technique for strengthening masonry infill walls against seismic lateral forces permitted by the Turkish Seismic Code is to add a plaster layer with mesh reinforcement to one face of the wall. The study described in this paper was performed to test and analyse the effectiveness of this technique for lateral loads.
