Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Global well-posedness of nonlinear wave equation with weak and strong damping terms and logarithmic source term

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2019
The main goal of this work is to investigate the initial boundary value problem of nonlinear wave equation with weak and strong damping terms and logarithmic term at three different initial energy levels, i.e., subcritical energy E(0) < d, critical ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

A Beginning without End: An Aristotelian Defence of the Kalam

open access: yesAnkara Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi Dergisi
In recent times, William Lane Craig’s version of the Kalam Cosmological Argument has become one of the most, if not the most popular arguments for the existence of God. Consequently, it has also invited extensive criticism.

The infinite potential well with moving walls

open access: yes, 2017
In this work the evolution of a wavefunction in an infinite potential well with time dependent boundaries is investigated. Previous methods for wells with walls moving at a constant velocity are summarised. These methods are extended to wells with slowly accelerating walls.

Quantitative analysis of the applicability limits of the model of a one-dimensional infinite square well [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We discuss the influence of several factors on the deviations from energy spectrum of an infinite square quantum well (QW) for real microscopic systems that can be approximately modelled using particle in a box.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Size Dependence of the Fermi Energy of Spherical Metal Nanocluster [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2015
In this paper, expression for the determination of the size-dependent Fermi energy of a metal nanocluster in the model of free electrons and spherical potential well of infinite depth is obtained.
