Inflaton clusters and inflaton stars [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2020
In a broad class of scenarios, inflation is followed by an extended era of matter-dominated expansion during which the inflaton condensate is nonrelativistic on subhorizon scales. During this phase density perturbations grow to the point of nonlinearity and collapse into bound structures.

Reheating after inflaton fragmentation

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2023
AbstractIn the presence of self-interactions, the post-inflationary evolution of the inflaton field is driven into the non-linear regime by the resonant growth of its fluctuations. The once spatially homogeneous coherent inflaton is converted into a collection of inflaton particles with non-vanishing momentum.

Calculations of inflaton decays and reheating: with applications to no-scale inflation models

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2015
We discuss inflaton decays and reheating in no-scale Starobinsky-like models of inflation, calculating the effective equation-of-state parameter, $w$, during the epoch of inflaton decay, the reheating temperature, $T_{\rm reh}$, and the number of ...

Leptogenesis in inflaton decay [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics, 1999
We study a leptogenesis via decays of heavy Majorana neutrinos produced non-thermally in inflaton decays. We find that this scenario is fully consistent with existing supersymmetric inflation models such as for topological or for hybrid inflation and the Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism generating hierarchies in quark and lepton mass matrices.

Light inflaton hunter’s guide [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2010
We study the phenomenology of a realistic version of the chaotic inflationary model, which can be fully and directly explored in particle physics experiments. The inflaton mixes with the Standard Model Higgs boson via the scalar potential, and no additional scales above the electroweak scale are present in the model.

Classical Decay of the Inflaton [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1996
We present the first fully nonlinear calculation of inflaton decay. We map inflaton decay onto an equivalent classical problem and solve the latter numerically. In the $\ensuremath{\lambda}{\ensuremath{\varphi}}^{4}$ model, we find that parametric resonance develops slower and ends at smaller values of fluctuating fields, as compared to estimates ...

Cosmic inflation without inflaton

International Journal of Modern Physics D, 2019
We propose a novel explanation for universe’s inflationary period. We argue that when the Einstein–Hilbert action is supplemented by an infinite tower of higher-curvature terms — selected order by order by the criterium that they give rise to a well-posed cosmological evolution — the usual Big Bang characteristic of Einstein gravity is replaced by a ...
