The information content of trade credit
Journal of Banking & Finance, 2011Abstract During 1992–2007, suppliers financed almost 10% of the total assets of US listed firms. This intensive usage of trade credit is puzzling in the light of its high (implicit) costs. By arguing that trade credit use provides valuable information to outside investors, we first derive a theoretical model that predicts a positive correlation ...

The information content of special orders
Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, 2015Abstract We consider the role of special orders in informed traders' order submission strategies and their effect on the market price discovery process. Special orders, such as Fill-and-Kill and All-or-Nothing orders, are not entered in the order book; instead, they are executed immediately.

On the informational content of viral DNA
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1983This paper is concerned primarily with how information is stored in viral DNA. The general problem of defining information content is discussed and a procedure for analysis extended from that of Gatlin (1972) is developed. Long range correlations in base sequences are analyzed for several viral genomes.

Information content of rat scotophobin
Behavioral Biology, 1975Synthetic rat scotophobin, a polypeptide alleged to encode “fear of the dark” as injected into mice. No effect was observed when recipients were tested without reinforcement; however, a weak “positive transfer effect” appeared after recipients were given foot shock.

I take it that in his contribution, Stalnaker is arguing for the claim that all there is to content is nonconceptual content, and that he reaches his conclusion basically from two premisses: the first premiss says that all there is to content is informational content, and the second says that informational content' is nonconceptual content. So then, in

Information Content of Protein Sequences
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2000The complexity of large sets of non-redundant protein sequences is measured. This is done by estimating the Shannon entropy as well as applying compression algorithms to estimate the algorithmic complexity. The estimators are also applied to randomly generated surrogates of the protein data.

Defining information: An analysis of the information content of documents
Information Processing & Management, 1980Abstract In order to characterize the information content of scientific documents an appropriate definition is developed which is based on the facts and data reported therein and on their conceptual interrelationship. The scope and limitations of such a definition are discussed and it is used to carry out the content analysis of a scientific paper ...

Comments on "On the Informational Content of Dividends"
The Journal of Business, 1976In his paper "On the Informational Content of Dividends," Michael Laub disagrees with two aspects of my recent article.1 He disagrees with my specification of an annual dividend model instead of a quarterly dividend model and with my conclusion that the information content of dividends is trivial. Laub bases his views on a "reinterpretation" of some of

Information content of chess positions
ACM SIGART Bulletin, 1977Chess has served as a convenient vehicle for studying cognition and perception (see de Groot [1965], Chase and Simon [1973]) as well as machine intelligence. Perhaps the central question for both of these research uses of chess is: How much chess-specific knowledge does it take to play at a given level of competence,
