Information extraction for the future [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 5th conference on Message understanding - MUC5 '93, 1993
This broad topic session covered a range of ideas on challenges for the future, along with approaches to meeting these challenges. Although some discussion of matters of scale was common to all the presentations, the speakers offered different perspectives on how to achieve scale-up.

Elucidation of interface interactions between a dehydratase domain and an acyl carrier protein in cremimycin polyketide synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In modular polyketide synthases, the dehydratase (DH) domain catalyzes the dehydration reaction of the β‐hydroxyacyl unit attached to the cognate acyl carrier protein (ACP) domain. However, it is unclear how DH interacts with ACP during the reaction. In this study, we identified DH–ACP interface residues, providing the first detailed insights into DH ...

Adaptive information extraction [PDF]

open access: yesACM Computing Surveys, 2006
The growing availability of online textual sources and the potential number of applications of knowledge acquisition from textual data has lead to an increase in Information Extraction (IE) research. Some examples of these applications are the generation of data bases from documents, as well as the acquisition of knowledge useful for emerging ...

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Automated Detection of Substance-Use Status and Related Information from Clinical Text

open access: yesSensors, 2022
This study aims to develop and evaluate an automated system for extracting information related to patient substance use (smoking, alcohol, and drugs) from unstructured clinical text (medical discharge records). The authors propose a four-stage system for

Event Arguments Extraction via Dilate Gated Convolutional Neural Network with Enhanced Local Features [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Event Extraction plays an important role in information-extraction to understand the world. Event extraction could be split into two subtasks: one is event trigger extraction, the other is event arguments extraction. However, the F-Score of event arguments extraction is much lower than that of event trigger extraction, i.e.

Scholarly Knowledge Extraction from Published Software Packages [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
A plethora of scientific software packages are published in repositories, e.g., Zenodo and figshare. These software packages are crucial for the reproducibility of published research. As an additional route to scholarly knowledge graph construction, we propose an approach for automated extraction of machine actionable (structured) scholarly knowledge ...

Characteristics of the Kelch domain containing (KLHDC) subfamily and relationships with diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Kelch protein superfamily includes 63 members, with the KLHDC subfamily having 10 proteins. While their functions are not fully understood, recent advances in KLHDC2's structure and role in protein degradation have highlighted its potential for drug development, especially in PROTAC therapies.
