Webpage Fingerprinting using Only Packet Length Information

ICC 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2019
Encrypted web traffic can reveal sensitive information of a user, such as their browsing histories. Existing studies on encrypted traffic analysis attacks usually focus on traffic fingerprinting of different websites rather than that of webpages from a same website. Fine-grained webpage fingerprinting allows exploiting more private information of users,

Estimation of Pendulum Length from Information in Motion

Perception, 1985
One hundred and five college students made estimates of the lengths of freely swinging pendulums mounted in an apparatus that masked all but the top few inches of the pendulum string. The law of pendulum motion shows that visible aspects of pendulum motion uniquely specify the length of the pendulum.

Partially Coherent Object Length Estimation: Information-theoretic Analysis

Imaging and Applied Optics Congress, 2020
We analyze the fundamental limits of source angular extent estimation for direct imaging and mode-sorting measurements as a function of source coherence length. We demonstrate that mode-sorting outperforms direct imaging in the sub-Rayleigh regime.

Fixed-length-parsing universal compression with side information

2017 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2017
This paper presents a fixed-length-parsing universal compression algorithm for settings where compressor and decompressor share the same side information. We prove the optimality of the algorithm for any stationary processes. Furthermore, strategies to modify the algorithm are suggested in order to lower the data compression rate.

Control evolutionary networked games with different length information

2017 Chinese Automation Congress (CAC), 2017
This paper investigates the dynamics of evolutionary networked games with different length information via semitensor product (STP) method. First, a networked game with different length information is modeled by a probabilistic Boolean network (PBN) with time delays.

Information, polarization and term length in democracy

Journal of Public Economics, 2008
Abstract This paper considers term lengths in a representative democracy where the political issue divides the population on the left–right scale. Parties are ideologically different and better informed about the consequences of policies than voters are. A short term length makes the government more accountable, but the re-election incentive leads to

Effect of Prior Information on String Length Estimates

Teaching Statistics, 2004
SummaryThis article describes an activity through which students collect data and explore ways to display them through graphs and charts. It also motivates various summary measures for location, spread and shape. Finally, it gives an introduction to concepts of validity, reliability and unbiasedness.

Information Density and Dependency Length as Complementary Cognitive Models

Journal of Psycholinguistic Research, 2013
Certain English constructions permit two syntactic alternations. (1) a. I looked up the number. b. I looked the number up. (2) a. He is often at the office. b. He often is at the office. This study investigates the relationship between syntactic alternations and processing difficulty. What cognitive mechanisms are responsible for our attraction to some

Incorporating information from length-mutational events into phylogenetic analysis

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2006
With the growing number of phylogenetic studies that use length variable DNA sequences, incorporating information from length-mutational events into phylogenetic analysis is becoming increasingly important. A new method, modified complex indel coding is described that aims at maximizing the phylogenetic information retained from unambiguously aligned ...
