Information Storage and Retrieval Systems
1969Does the field of information storage and retrieval as presently constituted qualify as a science? If not, can it ever become a science? These two questions continue to be topics of discussion for professionals associated with the field. While it is not difficult to reach an affirmative answer to the initial question, the process of arriving at such an

On scalable information retrieval systems
Proceedings of the eleventh international conference on Information and knowledge management, 2002Implementing scalable information retrieval systems requires the design and development of efficient methods to ingest data from multiple sources, search and retrieve results from both English and foreign language document collections and from collections comprising of multiple data types, harness high performance computer technology, and accurately ...

Implication in information retrieval systems.
2010Some IR models make use of an implication to match a document d and a query q, computing either "q implies d" (e.g. in fuzzy inclusion models) or, the other way, "d implies q" (e.g. in logical IR models). This paper analyzes, from a theoretical point of view, the IR models using both approaches.

Conversational Information Retrieval and Recommender Systems
Conversational systems are increasing their popularity since they allow users to interact in a simple and natural way. Information Retrieval (IR) and Recommender Systems (RS) represents two categories of systems that strongly rely on the interaction with the user.Faggioli, Guglielmo +2 more

Every scientist or engineer who needs scientific-technical information himself or wants to inform others is probably well acquainted with the problem of the ever-rising flood of publications. Thus, a critical survey of the available literature is like looking for the famous needle in the haystack.
